So the Murdoch rag the WSJ is reporting that "behind closed doors, Biden is showing signs of slipping"

The only one quoted in the article is Kevin McCarthy. No Democrats were quoted. As Morning Joe pointed out, it is such a twisted piece, and the fact that Kevin McCarthy has contradicted himself previously in private and public only highlights what a trash piece this is.

My speculation is that the insurrection party is quite concerned about losing this election, that Murdoch's WSJ decided they better start attacking Biden's mental acuity. It is no coincidence that the House nazis are demanding the DOJ to release the Hur tapes, though the transcript in full has already been released. No one can tell me this isn't co-ordinated by the repukes in conjunction with Murdoch and the WSJ.

The tell that this is a hit piece from the 93 year old POS murdoch is that it criticizes that when Biden was meeting with a couple of dozen Congressional people on getting weapons aid to Ukraine, it took him 10 minutes to individually meet with each one.

Will the WSJ also analyze trump for his "mental acuity"? I wouldn't hold my breath.

Look at the republicans in Congress, especially the House, if the press thinks any of their bullshit is normal, then the media has a problem with it's mental acuity.

Wed Jun 5, 2024, 09:16 AM
Jun 2024

Stiffness in the knees and muscles is experienced by many of us. It can be the result of an injury or physical activity in youth, or the aging process itself. It has nothing to do with mental acuity or the overall ability to perform jobs that require wisdom and experience. Many people in our society shun aging. I do not. I admire those whose life experiences, including those affecting the body, lead them to greater empathy.

I think President Biden is fine just the way he is. I am grateful that he stood up when he did to save our democracy. I am grateful that he is standing now to continue the fight against coordinated, well-funded forces that wish to undermine our nation and steal our democracy from us. I cannot think of anyone else who could do what President Biden is doing, especially given the utter cravenness on the Republican side.

And he's sharp as ever mentally. But from an election standpoint, he could be a little more flexible. The general public sees the way he moves and it reinforces the Rightweing narrative that he's too old.

He's active and gets around, and those iunjuries at that age linger.

But I've seen yoga make a huge difference in stiffness quiickly for older people. HJe still rides his bike regularly and I think he's lifting weights every morning. If you went on a hike with he and Trump, after 2 miles you'd both be carrying Trump on a makeshift stretcher. But that doesn't change the fact that Trump moves like the younger man, probably because he still plays golf all the time and maintains some flexibility in his upper body that way.

Of the chopped up and edited disastrous interview on Fox. Where some of the edits have leaked.

Now that parts of the edited out really wacky stuff has leaked out, Trump sounds really nutso. He said things in support of Epstein, used that racist N word comment and wants to lock up Democrats and liberals as a threat to the country. He stumbles and bumbles, mixes up his words and his train of thought, and never ends a sentence or a thought. He actually brags about remembering peoples names and that there are a lot of words.

So now the Wall Street Urinal needs to counter that with Biden is old too crap. They are trying to deflect from the absolutely wacko stuff coming out of the convicted felon's mouth.

WSJ, Sinclair, Newsmax, Fox, OAN, multiple Bannon type shows that regularly host republican congresspersons, fake local news outlets on social media...

And yet, even with all their propaganda launched multiple times a day every day, we are still the majority. They are still losing. Their ideas are not popular. People want the right to choose, they want books in public libraries, they want public education, they want the ability to easily vote, they want healthcare that won't bankrupt them, they want businesses and rich people to pay their fair share. So suck it right wing media. You're not going to break us.

Trumps felony conviction is seriously hurting him with voters. Entitled Republicans are running scared, as this tacky hit piece demonstrates.

Let’s see if Trump actually shows up to debate Biden later this month. Given the state of Trump’s cognitive decline, I seriously doubt it and Republicans know this. They are fully aware who’s sharp and who’s not.

This is their underhanded and feeble attempt to level the playing field. We shall see.

I have a 93 year old Mother with dementia and have been offered no such wonder drug that can even temporarily reverse mental decline.

Biden appears to be in better physical and mental shape than a majority his age or younger (including Trump who appears physically out of shape, has never been seen exercising in public (awkward podium wiggle dance at rallies and golf swings in between cart rides doesn't count).

Honestly, I cannot imagine wanting the job of President of the US when above a certain age, not so much because of health/age issues, but because I would want to be at least semi-retired. However, Biden is seeking the office to serve the Country while Trump is seeking office to serve himself.

Enough with journalists knocking someone because of their age, especially using behind closed doors nonsense.

40. Dems push back against Wall Street Journal report on Biden's acuity
Wed Jun 5, 2024, 04:36 PM
Jun 2024

The front-page Wall Street Journal report on President Joe Biden showing signs of "slipping" suffers from some rather important flaws.

https://www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow-show/maddowblog/dems-push-back-wall-street-journal-report-bidens-acuity-rcna155644

For Democrats concerned about public perceptions of President Joe Biden’s age, today’s front-page Wall Street Journal report must’ve felt like a gut-punch. The headline read, “Behind Closed Doors, Biden Shows Signs of Slipping.” The article added near the top:

The 81-year-old Biden is the oldest person to hold the presidency. ... The White House and top aides said he remains a sharp and vigorous leader. Some who have worked with him, however, including Democrats and some who have known him back to his time as vice president, described a president who appears slower now, someone who has both good moments and bad ones.

To bolster its thesis, the Journal appears to have relied on assessments from prominent GOP critics of the White House, including Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson and his immediate predecessor, former Republican House Speaker Kevin McCarthy......

A variety of Democratic officials, meanwhile, have come forward this morning with public statements saying that they, too, spoke to the newspaper about Biden and his sharpness — their comments apparently challenged the central thesis of the piece — though their assessments were not included in the published article.

It’s important to emphasize for context that the same Journal article added:

Members of the Biden administration offered numerous examples of other situations that they said showed the president was sharp and engaged, including long hours in the Situation Room in April during and after Iran’s missile attack on Israel, and late nights on the phone with lawmakers from his White House residence.

This, however, was the 19th paragraph in the piece.......

That said, I know that (a) members of Congress from both parties who’ve interacted with him have praised his sharpness; (b) Biden’s recent work on Ukraine, border policies, and the Middle East suggest he’s tackling and implementing an expansive and ambitious agenda at the White House; (c) questions about Donald Trump’s mental stability seem far more salient right now; and (d) some GOP officials might want the public to believe the worst about Biden and his age, but I’m not inclined to take Kevin McCarthy’s and Mike Johnson’s word for it.

White House spokesperson Andrew Bates told me this morning, “Literally, the sole on-record critic in the entire story is Kevin McCarthy, whose interview contradicts his earlier public and private statements about finding the President sharp in their private meetings. ... It’s a little surprising that The Wall Street Journal thought it was breaking news when congressional Republicans told them the same false claims they’ve spouted on Fox News for years, but it’s also telling that the only individuals willing to smear the President in this story are political opponents afraid to use their names — plus one proven liar.

“President Biden inherited an economy in freefall, fraying alliances, and a spiking violent crime rate, and he turned each around with his experience and judgment, delivering the strongest economic growth in the world, making NATO bigger than ever, and forcing violent crime to a near 50-year low,” Bates concluded.

Wed Jun 5, 2024, 07:53 PM
Jun 2024

Morning Joe had a great rant about this WSJ hit piece

https://www.rawstory.com/morning-joe-today-2668460166/

MSNBC's Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski bashed the Wall Street Journal for allowing current and former House Republicans to question President Joe Biden's mental fitness.

The "Morning Joe" co-hosts ripped Mike Johnson and Kevin McCarthy, the current and previous House speaker, for suggesting the president suffered age-related memory problems, saying both men had praised Biden's sharpness in the past.

"People around Mike Johnson and admit that this is basically House Republicans whacking [Biden]," Scarborough said.....

"I could go on and on with things that Kevin McCarthy and others have said about negotiating with Joe Biden," Scarborough said. "I could also talk about what the French delegation said when they were negotiating with him and what they told me, and friends that I have in that French delegation were a part of those negotiations who said that [president Emmanuel] Macron came out like, 'Wow, okay, he's a lot tougher than what we expected.' Actually, I think Macron sort of got his backup because Biden was pressing so hard. I can tell you the same thing about Middle Eastern people I talked to. Some people are suggesting that he, you know, a bit too tough.".....

"McCarthy mocked Biden's age and mental acuity in public while privately telling allies, in private, he found him sharp and substantive, he called him very professional, very smart and very tough and this same meeting, again, the Wall Street Journal is basing this story on, on Kevin McCarthy's lies?" Scarborough added. "Kevin McCarthy's lies, which, it's in the press. There is a mountain of quotes from Kevin McCarthy and people around Kevin McCarthy saying that Biden is sharp. He's mentally sharp, privately. I mean, yeah, so go ahead and talk about what I talked about and talking to world leaders, but, again, it's just not complicated. They went to a guy who has admitted that he lies in public and that privately Biden is very sharp."
