Joe Bidens job performance over his first three years in the White House is being viewed more favorably by presidential experts than by Americans overall, a new ranking of the United States 45 presidents reveals
The rankings, released Sunday, a day before Presidents Day, placed Biden as the 14th best president in history, among the top third to serve in the Oval Office
Former President Donald Trump was ranked last for the second consecutive time
The top three presidents were Abraham Lincoln (93.87 average), Franklin D. Roosevelt (90.83) and George Washington (90.32)
Bidens most important achievements may be that he rescued the presidency from Trump, resumed a more traditional style of presidential leadership and is gearing up to keep the office out of his predecessors hands this fall, they wrote.

(69,364 posts)The #1 accomplishment of Barack Obama was the ACA, which Biden and Pelosi got passed by Congress. They get assists.
Clinton was ok but not a great president.
I have no idea why Teddy Roosevelt gets so much credit, nor Ike. JFK - pfft. Don't get me started.
While I'm complaining, I think Ulysses S Grant should be more highly ranked. The dude got a LOT of important civil rights amendments through a bitterly divided Congress.

As President, Roosevelt held the ideal that the Government should be the great arbiter of the conflicting economic forces in the Nation, especially between capital and labor, guaranteeing justice to each and dispensing favors to none. Roosevelt emerged spectacularly as a trust buster by forcing the dissolution of a great railroad combination in the Northwest. Other antitrust suits under the Sherman Act followed.
Roosevelt steered the United States more actively into world politics. He liked to quote a favorite proverb, Speak softly and carry a big stick. . . . Aware of the strategic need for a shortcut between the Atlantic and Pacific, Roosevelt ensured the construction of the Panama Canal. His corollary to the Monroe Doctrine prevented the establishment of foreign bases in the Caribbean and arrogated the sole right of intervention in Latin America to the United States.
He won the Nobel Peace Prize for mediating the Russo-Japanese War, reached a Gentlemans Agreement on immigration with Japan, and sent the Great White Fleet on a goodwill tour of the world. Some of Theodore Roosevelts most effective achievements were in conservation. He added enormously to the national forests in the West, reserved lands for public use, and fostered great irrigation projects.
He crusaded endlessly on matters big and small, exciting audiences with his high-pitched voice, jutting jaw, and pounding fist. The life of strenuous endeavor was a must for those around him, as he romped with his five younger children and led ambassadors on hikes through Rock Creek Park in Washington, D.C.

(1,323 posts)Nothing touched Grant personally, but it was still there. He wasn't a great judge of character among his friends.
The Congress wasn't that divided at the beginning of his term, but the longer reconstruction went on the harder it became to pass stuff.
I'd have him at 22 on my list (and for the record I don't rank anyone while they're currently in office, so I won't place Biden yet), so I think this one has him just a bit too high, but the ballpark is the same. Grant's ranking has really skyrocketed the last dozen years or so as his Civil Rights record has been re-examined and the focus on the corruption in his Administration has lessened.

(5,425 posts)The Republican Party is indeed disgusting. It shows how perverse and twisted the minds of people, so many people, can be.
Everyday people who identify as Republican are, well, disgusting. Offal, with no redeeming qualities. If this were not true, they would have kicked their leaders out long ago.
