(59,522 posts)want the way they want it because women like it when men use the things that make that possible. I seldom see the same argument when referring to men's support of women's access to the things necessary for women to have sex the way we want it.
Think. Again.

(26,507 posts)(healthy or otherwise) from a woman not being able to make an abortion decision that she should be in control of - or all the babies birthed because of not being able to prevent them through use of contraceptives?
Does this signal an explosion in the birth numbers in the future?
Will abandonment become a problem? Will this create an opportunity for adoptions? Who will provide? More single mothers? More need for child care?
Fathers not taking their responsibility in a rise in birthrate?
I don't know if this whole movement of denying a woman to make her own decisions about her body is well thought out - given what could be the consequences.
And now this could be further complicated by the talk of outlawing contraception.

(7,811 posts).... specialty as a surgical scrub technician. During my four years on active duty, I would guess I scrubbed on at least two OBGYN cases dealing with pregnancy issues a month. Ectopic pregnancies and C-sections both would usually occur as an emergency procedure. Both would likely be life-threatening procedures without adequate immediate LOCAL healthcare.
This fall, my wife and I will have been married for 57 years. We have one biological son, who is now in his fifties and works with troubled school-age children. We know what is coming with the MAGA right-wing cult and the felon who they mindlessly follow.
My wife is a retired physical therapist who has worked with disabled school-aged kids for almost 30 years.
So my point is we understand better than most what is going to happen if the MAGA cult manages to further ban a woman's right to bodily autonomy.
We rescued three of these kids and put them on a path that enabled them to escape the poverty that they were trapped in before we adopted them. They are now raising their own families. Two of them are former military personnel with advanced degrees post-high school. The third outlived his projected lifespan (late teens) and lived to be in his mid-thirties at the time of his death.
Then, here are some things we expect to see in the future from our experience.
1. Many children will be born but ignored and forgotten by the government.
2. The right-wing ultra-conservatives for years have demanded that it is the responsibility of the parents to take care of the babies
3. Soon, these newly-born children will live in poverty-stricken homes. Poorly cared for. Poor health issues. Often neglected and
poorly educated.
4. They will soon be the parents of the next generation of unwanted children, and the cycle renews itself.
5. The burden on local communities will be stretched to the limits as the right-wing ultra-conservatives will continue to defund programs that are meant to support children.
6. Schools will struggle with providing adequate programs to support the current generation of unwanted children. Many of these kids will never recover from the neglect that they were born into.
7. They will be poorly educated adults unable to find good-paying, family-supporting jobs. Second and third-generation families will become a further burden on local social service programs.
8. We will likely need to build additional prisons for those who fail to become productive adults.

(26,507 posts)Second - Let me thank you for contribution to our healthcare system.
Thirdly - Let me thank you for your dedication to you children - your biological son and your 3 adopted/rescued children.
Lastly - Let me thank you for your well thought out future expectations from a couple that - through your life long experiences - in the military; in healthcare and as parents - lived this.
You laid it out very succinctly - as to what we should expect if the MAGA right-wing cult and the felon who they mindlessly follow continue on their mission to rob all rights from women regarding childbirth, abortion and contraception and follow through with their mission.
I agree with the eight points you outlined in your response because this cult and felon hadn't taken the time to project the consequences of their actions. They didn't think it out like you did.
Though you eight points are problematic enough - I only hope that things don't get even more serious than you laid out.
Somehow your eight points need to be communicated to all Americans before the Nov election.
I appreciate your response to the questions I posed in my post.
Thank You!!!

(14,371 posts)but there's a problem with that. Many older married men have ED for reasons beyond their control and wives who would like to continue a reasonable sex life. Would you like to also take that away from them? Hold your horses there before you go all out on this.

(2,332 posts)So we're the only ones who must have our sex lives disrupted?
BS. If women can have their sex lives curtailed for a stupid reason, then the limp dicks can have theirs curtailed for a stupid reason. If their wives need some loving, get a vibrator, and stop whinging.

It's like they are saying men can have all the fun they want even rape or incest a girl or woman and have zero consequences most of the time since most rapes aren't reported because women are not believed and most states don't do anything about incest.
Women meanwhile have no choice, forced to carry a child that could even be dying inside them or causing them to have no more children. And on top of that many states want to give her the death penalty if she gets an abortion.

It also is kinda small bore and far less than a pound of flesh because there are plenty of us that don't use it and don't need it while every woman needs her autonomy.
Sorry, I get where the sentiment comes from but I'm not much for crab bucket games in no small part because they seldom work and even more rarely do they work as intended.
As likely as anything you will find yourselves losing estrogen therapy or mastectomy treatments or something ridiculous as the reward for the effort.
