"SNIP...........
Donalld Trump fumed over a federal judge ordering his longtime ally Steve Bannon to report to prison, calling for members of the House panel that investigated the Jan. 6, 2021, riot to be indicted, The Hill reports.
Trumps post follows several interviews he gave this week in which he suggested it would be fair game for his political opponents to be prosecuted if he wins the White House in November.

(13,477 posts)So long as Trump gives free reign to turning the US into a theocracy, the Extreme Court will remain silent. And if the do cross him, he will simply ignore them. They have no enforcement mechanism, relying on the DOJ that under Trump will be as corrupt as possible.

Yes, US Constitution, Bill of Rights, rule of law, etc.
None of them certain under Trump.
People are having a hard time wrapping their heads around this.

(20,384 posts)They just blather on about trials that vaguely allude to crimes but theres never any actual evidence or documentation, just that the Democrats were mean to the Orange one. The Media dutifully reports on it, it riles up the base, and the fundraising grift goes on.

(22,595 posts)you think he'd be the least bit concerned with "charges?"
Similar to Stalin, who was mentioned upthread. You think Stalin bothered with any "charges?"

(2,332 posts)Stupid ones. Dishonest ones. But they all had charges against them, and the accused appeared either in kangaroo courts, or before NKVD tribunals:
The trials, which became known as the Moscow Trials, were clearly staged events. The accused admitted to being traitors and spies. Later, historians learned that the defendants agreed to these forced confessions only after being interrogated, threatened and tortured.
Meanwhile, the Soviet secret police, known as NKVD, conducted three-member committees in the field to decide whether killings of other anti-Soviets were justified. The accused were tried, found guilty on site and quickly executed.
