Does the Judge really have a choice?

He knows, as everyone knows, that Donald Trump is going to continue to show contempt for the law and all those that attempt to hold him accountable.

He will show no remorse.

He will accept no accountability.

The Judge knows that if he permits Donald Trump to go free on these felony charges, it will only get worse.

So what choice does he have but to order him to confinement, at least until the Republicans have finished their Convention, and chosen their candidate?

It is sad for his supporters but it is even more sad for our country. The people and the courts cannot let him continue to break the laws and destroy our democracy and our country without holding him accountable.

Republicans have 4 1/2 weeks to decide which direction they desire for their Party to go. This is the last stop for this clown car - this crazy bus. They can choose to get off or they can ride it to its sad and disastrous ending. That is their choice.

The Judge will not make a distinction between Mr Trump and any other citizen that would show such utter contempt for our rule of law and our institutions. The Republicans should not wait for the Judge to save them. They will have to save themselves.

There was a post earlier today about a focus group of two time TFG voters. I expected a scary bunch but they weren't Some were disgusted enough they said they were voting for Biden. Others said they'd probably vote for RFK, JR (as long as nobody tells them he's a raving liberal on most issues). Only one man (a lawyer) said he was going to vote for TFG.

4. Republicans have already decided on their direction

And it's clear that it will be the same no matter what sentence is. They have overwhelmingly decided to follow Trump off this cliff.

It has been really easy to predict how Republican officials will react to anything: Examine all the options and pick the most cowardly, corrupt, and immoral path available.

5. No doubt, the Republican politicians in Washington have made their choice...

But, I am not so sure that the Republicans at large, and those at the Convention, are as enthused about the choice as are the politicians.

Claim tsf is mentally damaged from all the unfair Dems being mean to him. All his recent revenge rhetoric is the insanity evidence. I'm praying that he's their nominee. But the gop powers have to be freaking out at the permanent damage tsf is causing. Bummer.

that when you're the leader of a conspiracy, then you shouldn't get any less than what a minion got.

Michael Cohen got convicted for the same crime and had to go to jail.
Pendejo45 shouldn't get anything less than what Cohen got, which was 3 years in prison plus a pretty ankle bracelet when he was released.

11. Merchan already made a distinction with the gag orders.

He gave Trump a huge amount of leeway with the gag orders.
Anyone else would have been jailed, all Trump got was a measly fine which
the judge admitted was nothing, but all he could do by state law in terms of the law.

Merchan also made reference to the fact Trump was an ex-president and presidential candidate
in his rulings and appeared to respect those situations.
