Misery Business
(56 posts)They see Bush as part of the globalist agenda. I actually don't think his speaking out can help all that much solely because his party seems to have turned on him.
In 2018, Bush's unfavorable ratings rose to 21% among Republicans. That was compared to 7% in 2015, or before Trump.
You might think 21% isn't all that high but it's pretty significant. To put that into perspective, Obama's unfavorable among Democrats in that same poll was just 3%.

TCF might like Georgie P - but that liking him is like a 'kiss of death'.
Georgie P doesn't need TCF to become a power that be in the Repug Party.
He should make his move after TCF crashes and burns.
Really - if I were them - I'd avoid TCF as much as possible. Wait till TCF tanks - then take advantage of the new - 'without TCF situation'.

(1,461 posts)that tRump used in 2020 and continues to use today. The U.S. News article was a typical pro Bushthief media downplay of the Bushthief theft of the 2000 election. This success emboldened future election stealers like tRump and the MAGAs. There would be no tRump today if it wasn't for the Bushthief/Cheney 2000 Presidential election theft in Florida in 2000.

(72,187 posts)Once they'd squandered their personal fortunes, they would either compel their rich friends to leave all their money to them in their wills, and then have them murdered, or else accuse the money-havers of treason, execute them, and then confiscate their fortunes.
The rich assholes in this country have never read history, or they would be very worried about a greedy autocrat with no morals becoming the guy in charge.

(26,179 posts)The number that hate Trump and understand Trump is just a money sucking parasite is far greater than those that speak out. Mostly because they feel hurting Trump, hurts the brand. This has been true for always. Bush has been basically a political nobody since 2008. He will likely stay that way. Speaking truth to power was never his game.

H2O Man
(79,053 posts)among his family, and those corporations that capitalize on foreign wars. But he can communicate with these people in a non-public manner. He wasn't popular in the republican party by late 2007, and even W had cut his nuts off after the Plame scandal and the gross failure in Iraq.
W himself sticks by the unwritten rule that an ex-president does not speak ill of another holder of the office. His influence in the republican party today is shallow at very best. However, unlike Cheney, he might have some influence with some independent voters. There was a time when I wished it was W rather than his refrigerator-headed brother debating the felon. At least he wouldn't have put his tail between his legs like Jeb did.

(10,180 posts)Maybe I'm giving too much credit but maybe there's been a conversation regarding whether Bush speaking out would do more harm than good.
Cheney has been very vocal about his disdain for dt. I saw an excellent interview/conversation between Jon Meacham and Liz Cheney (from a month or two ago) that a friend had DVR'd for us to watch together while I was working out of town.
We were able to get to it last night, and I thought it was powerful.
