If there’s one celebrity who can single-handedly derail Donald Trump’s bid to return to the White House in 2024, it’s Taylor Swift. Perhaps aware of this, the former president struck an unusually conciliatory, albeit weirdly creepy tone towards the pop star in a recent interview with Variety editor-in-chief Ramin Setoodeh.

Discussing Swift in a November 2023 interview, Trump said: “I think she’s beautiful — very beautiful! I find her very beautiful… I hear she’s very talented. I think she’s very beautiful, actually — unusually beautiful!”

Having largely avoided commenting on politics throughout her career, Swift broke her silence in 2018 when she endorsed Tennessee Democratic candidates Phil Bredesen for the US Senate and Jim Cooper for the House of Representatives. She then publicly endorsed Joe Biden and Kamala Harris ahead of the 2020 presidential election. “The change we need most is to elect a president who recognizes that people of color deserve to feel safe and represented, that women deserve the right to choose what happens to their bodies, and that the LGBTQIA+ community deserves to be acknowledged and included,” she told V Magazine of her decision at the time.

The comment about her politics is in connection with being able to be liberal and a successful country star.
