Jared Kushner's financial ties to Saudi Arabia fall under fresh scrutiny

The Senate Finance Committee has launched an investigation into Jared Kushner's overseas business activities.

Sen. Ron Wyden (D-OR), who chairs the committee, asked Kushner's firm Affinity Partners for details about a $2 billion investment from the Saudi Arabian government’s Public Investment Fund in 2021 and funding from other foreign investors.

“The Saudi PIF’s decision to invest $2 billion in Affinity so soon after Kushner’s departure from the Trump White House raises concerns that the investment was a reward for official actions Kushner took to benefit the Saudi government," Wyden wrote, "including preventing accountability for the Saudi government ordering the brutal murder of journalist and American citizen Jamal Khashoggi."

A panel that screens investments for Saudi Arabia's Sovereign Wealth Fund warned against investing with the inexperienced Kushner, but the full board led by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman overruled that recommendation.

It's about damned time someone investigated this sleazy deal. I just wish it would've been the Justice Department. They should throw in that $1.8B Kushner received from Qatar in 2018 to bail him out of the balloon payment on that 666 Fifth Avenue white elephant property.

People again will be freaked out by his humanlessness.

I’m saying a lot people don’t know about this nor have they seen his bizarre manner.

Saudi crown prince reportedly bragged he had Jared Kushner ‘in his pocket’

US president’s son-in-law said to have shared classified intelligence with Mohammed bin Salman on the prince’s domestic enemies

The Times of Israel, 23 March 2018

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman may be using his close relationship with White House adviser Jared Kushner to send a message to his allies and enemies that his actions were backed by the US government, a US government official told The Intercept.

Kushner, who is the son-in-law of US President Donald Trump, and the Saudi crown prince, had a late October meeting in Riyadh.

A week later, Mohammed began what he called an “anti-corruption crackdown.” The Saudi government arrested and jailed dozens of members of the Saudi royal family in a Riyadh hotel – among them Saudi figures named in a daily classified brief read by the president and his closest advisers, which Kushner read avidly before he lost his top-secret security clearance in February, The Intercept reported Thursday.

According to the report, Mohammed told confidants that he and Kushner discussed Saudis identified in the classified brief as disloyal to Mohammed. While it is likely that Prince Mohammed could independently learn who were his critics, he may have wanted to let it be known that Kushner shared that information with him in order to show his close relationship with the United States, the unnamed US official said.
