Michael Cohen to Challenge Jerry Nadler

Political Wire

Michael Cohen told New York Magazine that he will challenge Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY) in the 2026 Democratic primary: “He’s been in office 30 years. We thank him for his service, but it’s enough already.”

Nadler responded to Playbook: “What a great country America is. Anyone can run for Congress — even con men.”

1. Sounds like "the Onion"...

Cohen knows better than this. Most Dems likely don't see him as the "enemy," but neither are they willing to embrace him as a candidate. But boy, will some lap this up to use against us.

2. How will a statement about running two years from now in an absolutely safe Dem seat be used against us?

He'll be a non-entity by then. (or in Gitmo, if, gawd forbid, we have a dictatorship under TSF)

And now jailed Convict Michael Avennatti once had the audacity to consider running for President.

He's a Democrat and we do need a transition to the younger generation.

but I'd take him over Cohen any day. That said, I would like to see younger candidates. and we are, slowly but surely. My Congressman is 40 and represents us well.

The average age of Congress is around 60, when most of us start dreaming of retirement.

16. I don't disagree with Nadler retiring...but we can probably find someone younger than Cohen.

Particularly one who engaged in election tampering in 2016.

There are far better candidates out there.

consider him a “great guy” or someone who’s trustworthy. He’d be very vulnerable to attacks about his history.

I'd love to be able to have a litmus test to see if a candidate loves power or actually believes what's they're spewing to try and get elected.

11. Looking forward to hearing of his record of "service"

Other than not recently lying about his criminal behavior, what positive attributes does this guy have?

We should stop voting for famous people that don't have any record of service. He could easily switch back to "R" once Trump is gone and any surviving "moderate" Republicans emerge from under their rocks.
