As a Californian, I never read it, never think about it, and don't know anyone who does. How influential is it on the east coast?
In the past week or so it ran misleading videos based on "cheap fake" videos showing Biden supposedly wandering around in Europe and then getting lost on stage in Los Angeles. The videos were posted by the RNC (of course).
So the NYP is working hand in glove with the RNC to spread fake stories about Biden. Sound familiar?

So yes, they're shills for Trump and the RNC.

(24,973 posts)for the lack of a better term. Using cheap fake videos from the RNC to spread lies on their covers is pretty out there. Maybe they've always been this bad.
Think. Again.
(22,456 posts)....blatantly rightwing propaganda outlet and cheezy rag.

(24,973 posts)Do people talk about their covers in NY? Unlike the NE, they're not at the checkouts of every Walmart in the red states, so I guess that's a positive. I laughed off the absurd lies on the cover of the NE in 2016. Turns out it wasn't a big joke to everyone.

I don't know how influential they are, probably carry weight with the same people who saw the NE as offering actual news.
So in my humble opinion it's no joke.
Those people are shameless.

(26,848 posts)of years, since he moved there (before his passing in 2014). I'd always people watch in the trains and I used to see lots and lots of people reading the New York Times. Over the years hard copies of newspapers gave way to phones and tablets. But in that time I did notice a significant shift from the NYT to the Post from the people carrying newspapers. I also occasionally will catch a glimpse of people's devices and saw more Post than NYC readers in passenger's digital media.

(24,973 posts)That doesn't sound good. Still, I suppose it doesn't matter too much since New York is solidly blue.

(27,552 posts)but for some reason there was a copy in the waiting area at my local grocery store pharmacy. There were several pages devoted to reporting nasty and potentially untrue things about Biden, while I found not one article on Trump. I felt dirty after reading.

(24,973 posts)I'm just wondering about its reach beyond New York.

(34,294 posts)It does have a celebrity tabloid thing going in addition to being a RW rag.

(25,250 posts)If he came back to life to see his New York Post turn into a right-wing propaganda rag, he'd probably overturn the entire company and send Murdoch the bill.

"MIDGET ROBS UNDERTAKER AT MIDNIGHT"; "DISSOLVE OLD MAN IN ACID!"; "GUNNED-DOWN PREGNANT CAT FIGHTS FOR LIFE"; "VAMPIRE KILLER STALKS CITY"; "SEWER BOY STILL MISSING"; and "ANIMAL AUSCHWITZ."
I remember for Mother's Day in either 1983 or 84, the E-N ran a front page story about a woman who had been pregnant about 50 times. It talked about how her husband would rape her and how she would get pregnant before six weeks were over. It talked about her miscarriages. It was a disgusting article. It had nothing to do with being a mother and everything to do with having sex, getting pregnant and being raped by her husband. Somewhere in there, there were some live kids. I put the paper down, "Is this what they call journalism/news/is this what people enjoy reading in San Antonio?" It was nothing but tabloid stupid.
I'm glad Murdoch is out of here! At least New York has numerous papers.
