Steve Schmidt: Biden needs to emasculate Chump

Link: https://steveschmidt.substack.com/p/biden-needs-to-emasculate-trump

In today’s commentary, I offer some advice to the Biden campaign, one week before the CNN debate between President Biden and Donald Trump: emasculate Trump. Biden needs to remind Trump that he's the laughingstock in the eyes of the world's leaders. He needs to emasculate him, humiliate him, denigrate him, laugh at him, belittle him. He needs to be ready for a fight.

Steve Schmidt is still an awesome political strategist, and I'm glad he's come over to the good guys!

“Humiliate”, “call him a liar”, etc. are fine. There is no parallel for a female candidate, which implies that being masculine is a good thing but being feminine is not.

The tactics may not appeal to everyone.

But by God we are fighting for our freedom, our democracy, and in some cases our lives.

Use whatever works to fight evil.

I would have called Hitler every name in the book if I could have saved any of the
75 million lives lost in WWII.

If I as a woman have to take a ding in the name calling, so be it.

I hope I have enough courage to take a few dings to save lives.

In order to take Trump down. That’s a false choice. It’s not “man on man” or appropriate any more than implying that undermining someone’s “whiteness” (as if that could be done) would demonstrate that they were consequently less suited to be President.

Dark Brandon has done a good job of demonstrating how to hit the target.

He can do whatever the hell he needs to do to save our democracy.

And I am damn well not going to get my feelings hurt one bit.
And I am not going to tie his hands behind his back bickering about
his wording.

If he can save our democracy, save lives, save our future,
he has my permission to throw me right under the bus.

I have the guts to take the hit.

I come from a military family which sacrificed a heck of a lot more
than their delicate sensibilities year after year. Some even gave their lives.

The least I can do is suck it in for Joe Biden to fight the good fight.
And fight to win.

The look on Trump's face was incredible and very telling.
So was Putin's face and demeanor.

And we know that both Trump and Putin are ruthless narcissists and sociopaths.

I think Trump went in to that meeting, pontificating and on a narc high.
He had believed all the bull shit Putin fed him before the election
about how wonderful Trump was. Trump is very easy to manipulate
with fake flattery.

As soon as Putin was successful in installing Trump into the White House,
Putin had a come to Jesus meeting with Trump, fed him a reality sandwich,
and set forth Trump's marching orders.

In no uncertain terms Putin let Trump know the bill was due and must be paid in full.

And Putin made it perfectly clear how he really felt about Trump, and what would
happen if Trump let him down.

Something along these lines.

It was an ugly sucker punch right to Trump's gut.

Something that really struck me is that Putin who is thought to be about 5'-7" came out of the meeting looking much taller and larger than Trump, who claims to be 6'-2" but is actually about 6'-0", still about 5" taller than Putin. It almost looked like a magic trick.

Chump's Dad paid a friendly doctor in New York, and I think the weaselly doctor came up with the "bone spurs" idea.

What made the red-staters love Chump wasn't the whining, it was the racism. AND the fact that American voters elevated a Black man to the White House. If that hadn't happened in 2008, I don't think the red-staters would have lost their minds over Chump.

...on his characterization of the race. As more people tune in to the race, the more it starts to tilt toward Biden.

Yes, Biden should emasculate Trump, but not in a bombastic way. Joe Biden needs to be the prosecutor in the courtroom making the final argument, concisely, emphatically, but always in control. The litany of Trump abuses is too long to focus on too many, so hit the big four: being a convicted felon; being an insurrectionist; being unable to accept reality/responsibility; and being anti-American. Talk about how those last three have directly hurt the people of this country. The inability to accept the reality of COVID killed people. The inability to accept the results of the election has divided the country and caused the gullible to be incarcerated. The embrace of dictators has emboldened Putin and Xi and their ilk.

But Trump can't be the whole focus. People are still hurting in this good economy. What's the message for them? Talk about the achievements that have been drowned out by the circus of the Trump Show and the media that salivates over covering it while claiming to detest it. Don't fall into the trap of being a guest star in Trump's bullshit anti-reality show. Talk about the work that remains to be done and how having more Democrats in the Congress will make that happen. Don't let this be all about Trump. If it is, he wins.

I believe Joe Biden is, and always has been, a good guy and he'd never want to emasculate anyone. "Emasculate" is Steve Schmidt's word, and he's the type of political analyst who thinks that way. When he worked for Repukes, that was his style even then.

But now he's left the Dark Side, and he's trying to use the Force to help the good guys. I know I'm simplifying this, but Steve's being Steve and most Democrats are nicer than Steve. In a way I appreciate the lesson he's giving us, that maybe we shouldn't worry about being mean once in a while.

Joe's regular debating style will be just fine for next week. He can throw a zinger when he feels like it, like ... "Will you just SHUT UP man?"

That one went a long way four years ago.

My knee-jerk response to the op was the same as yours .. although I could not have expressed all you did. In addition to all you say, your advise strongly attacks Trump without getting in the pig style with him.

A problem with the advise in the op is that it moves the contest into Trump's field rather than remaining reasonable, presidential and above the mud.

I think Biden and the Biden Team have a very good understanding of the electorate and the ebb and flow of politics. Trump's strategy is "gimmick of the day plus classics." Biden's is more like the methodical isolation, trapping, and disposal of a pest animal. All while Biden is effortlessly being an example of the best a President can be.

I do think it's important to emasculate Trump. His entire masculinity, as I've said before, is in his hairdo, makeup, and vocal register. Real men, in my book, think Trump is a fat wuss. Biden's a man; Trump isn't. That's why Biden can get a good woman and Trump can't.
