The billionaire grandson of plutocrat Andrew Mellon, gave $50 million to the Make America Great Again Inc. in May.
Mellon had previously donated $25 million to super PACs backing both Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee, and Robert F. Kennedy Jr., an independent presidential candidate. The New York Times noted late Thursday that Mellon, a reclusive GOP megadonor who has described safety net programs as slavery redux, is now the first donor to give $100 million in disclosed federal contributions in this years election.... [snip]
Timothy Mellons donation to the Make America Great Again Inc. super PAC was the largest single campaign contribution this election cycle and accounted for most of the roughly $70 million that the pro-Trump outfit raised last month. The Times reported that within days of the contribution, the super PAC said in a memo that it would begin reserving $100 million in advertising through Labor Day.
Mellon is one of at least a dozen billionaires supporting Trumps bid for another four years in the White House. The former president has solicited donations from fossil fuel executives and hedge fund investors, promising to deliver regulatory rollbacks and more tax cuts if he defeats President Joe Biden in November.
You know what? These billionaires are all going to look like out-of-touch assholes in November when their "special little boy" falls flat on his face. Chump is going to lose, and President Joe Biden will give no tax-reprieves for billionaires next year, or any other year.

After Chump loses in November - and we all KNOW he's going to lose - these billionaires will go back into the woodwork and pretend they had nothing to do with him.
It seems that Truthout has the same idea. They've been posting stories sporadically about the extremely wealthy rightwingers who are throwing their money at Chump like there's no tomorrow.

(3,281 posts)from a user that (doesn't appear) to be around anymore. My suggestion was to create a subscription only searchable database
of the right wing supporters/pundits/politicians and general hangers on. Lot of pearl clutching about the possible misuse
of the data. The sad fact is the right wing, despite having a sizable segment of mouth breathing footsoldiers
also include some very smart people like Leonard Leo who are actually calling the shots. These people are extremely adept at
propaganidizing a vulnerable and typically uninformed population. They also have a shit ton of $ to get it done. Moreover,
it (seems) like relatively more very wealthy right wingers don't mind putting their $ where their mouth is. I suspect that this
is because a liberally minded billionaire still has more in common with a conservative zealot billionaire than they do with common folk.
IOW, even billionaires having liberal sentiments will benefit from lower taxes, eliminating estate taxes, etc. We are on our own folks and it's time to stop playing nice.

(41,637 posts)Not sure how we'd do it, other than just voluntarily posting stuff in GD as we see it in news.
I don't think it would call for a separate forum heading or anything, do you?
harumph
(3,281 posts)to make it more searchable, perhaps a format should be adhered to when posting.
E.g.,
Name: Leornard Leo
Role: Co-chaiman Board of Directors Federalist Society
Organization 1: Federalist Society
Organization 2: Liberty Central
See also: The Concord Fund; The Marble Freedom Trust ...
Action(s): Asshole did this and that ....
Action Date: xxxx/xx/xx
...
We could have fun with the different Role types... "pundit", "general hack", "ratfucker"
Personally, I see a separately hosted Db solution that interested DU members would have access to.
A data entry form would enforce data formatting rules by restricting to certain category names, etc.
I used to design relational database schemas - but years ago.

I took my money out of Mellon Bank over 30 years ago, but that's another story for another day.

Restrict the type of charity donations that can be wrote off.
