Congratulations to the winners of the June, 2024 photo contest, Spring. Birds and wildlife seemed to be the favorite subjects this month.
First place goes to Feed me! by Ms. Toad. This photo just works on so many levels. First there is the incredible subject matter, new born baby birds waiting to be fed. What could say spring better than that? The angle of the shot and the incredible detail also add to the appeal of the image. Finally, there is the brilliant use of color, which instantly draws your attention to the gaping maws of the little creatures.

Second place goes to Baby Owl by me, Grumpy Old Guy. This was just one frame out of several hundred that I shot that day. Again, I love the way that the color of the eyes instantly draws the viewers attention. This birds gaze is hypnotic in my opinion.

Third place goes to "Spring Migrant" by Mousetoescamper. Again, the brilliant color of the little blue bird instantly draws the viewers attention.

All of the finalists were strong contenders this month. Congratulations to everyone who made the finals. I couldnt pick an honorable mention because there were just too many great photos. It was impossible to pick just one. Thanks to all who participated.

(1,003 posts)I think the blue bird might be an indigo bunting. Last time I saw one was a few years ago with my late mom, a bird lover extraordinaire. 💕

But if I did vote, it was going to be for you. I really love that photo.
Here is another shot from that same day.

(22,624 posts)The photos are deserving and incredible, and just looking at them makes me very happy. That, though, is also true for the entirety of the contest. I don't remember when I last saw a lineup of magnificence like this one was. Thanks to all participants and the host, and kudos to the max to the winners.
