Amee Vanderpool @girlsreallyruleFormer Democrat Joe Manchin will now start giving PAC money to Republicans.
Today, I am taking an important and immediate step to right one of those wrongs by turning my Country Roads PAC from one that has mostly given to the Democratic Party into a bipartisan PAC to support Democrats, Republicans and independents...
The first three candidates I am supporting have a track record of working across the aisle to enact meaningful legislation for our country and their respective states and districts.
Democratic Rep. Jared Golden of Maine
Maine Sen. Angus King
Republican Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania co-chairs the bipartisan Problem Solvers Caucus.
So, Manchin is supporting an anti-choice zealot who has voted for a national abortion ban.

GOP Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick also personally blocked an assault weapons ban from the House floor last summer.
A rare House Republican who supports stricter gun measures said he wont back a Democratic effort to end-run Speaker Kevin McCarthy and force a vote on a trio of bills to implement those restrictions.

Support for this faux 'moderate' republican is a perfect representation of everything that Manchin personally blocked our slim majority from achieving in the Senate; from reproductive and voting rights; to gun safety legislation; to anti-pollution climate measures.
It's another con to tone down the direct assaults on our rights and benefits, and go back to the subversive, accommodating language republican enablers have used to elect republicans and consolidate power for what is ultimately a regressive and abusive republican majority.
Is he still fooling anyone here?

I also heard tell that, if WVa. Dems didn't vote for him, republicans would elect David Duke or Kid Rock.

(56,257 posts)It's a f*cking miracle we actually got a Democratic senator from one of the reddest of red states.
When the alternative is someone who will vote the Donnie/magat way pretty much 100% of the time, I'll take manchin and his tepid at best cooperation every time.
Put him in a blue state and hell no, I wouldn't support him. But West Virginia? Sure, I'll take what I can get.

I agree that it was a good thing we got him to make up the pretense of a Senate majority to keep republicans from just blocking everything.
Joke's on him. Joke is him.
