Or did it seem like Trump was given more opportunities to answer questions and offer rebuttals than Biden did? I'm not promoting a conspiracy theory or anything, and I could be wrong if the data shows the opposite, but it just seemed like Tapper & Bash asked Trump more questions

(6,287 posts)That was one of the main reasons I tuned out. I had no desire to watch a Trump rally.

(3,723 posts)the mods. never interrupted Trump even to get him to answer a question instead of going back to the previous question to get his licks in.
They cut Joe off mid-sentence several times. And of course no fact checking at all.

(5,348 posts)It sure looked to me that CNN was muting Biden more often than Trump, shortening Bidens reply while also often allowing Trump to run over.
I feel sick. 😞

In a historic rematch, President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump returned to the stage for the first debate between an incumbent and a former president.
We tracked how much speaking time each candidate used during the first presidential debate of the cycle, hosted by CNN in Atlanta.
After closing statements wrapped, Trump clocked in at approximately 40 minutes and 12 seconds throughout the debate, while Bidens overall time came in at 35 minutes and 41 seconds.
While both candidates had an equal chance to respond to questions, they could choose not to use the maximum allotted time.

(878 posts)Thank you. Can't tell if that was the right call from him or not.
On one hand, Biden conceding his time made Trump appear more
"energized," I guess, for lack of a better word. But Biden speaking more could've also gone badly. I just wouldn't want to be Biden right now. Can't imagine the stress he must be dealing with from all sides.

(5,060 posts)trump just didn't answer the question and rebutted the last question. You can do whatever you want with your time he choose to never answer the current question and always rebutted Joe answers

a lot more in. Not necessarily BETTER replies but more STUFF, admittedly tangential and said with his chest as it were.
So it appeared to be very heavy on his side.

(13,104 posts)clearly and loud and sounded very firm in his answers and not hesitant, it did seem that way. Joe was so quiet and he seemed hesitant and nervous tonight. Frustrated that he wasn't able to speak clearly.
