... Age is a real issue and lets take it on after Jan 20, 2025. No doubt about it: I am an over represented demographic.

But this is not the time to discuss it. I hope somehow I live long enough to see members of AOC's class take over. We fat old white men by and large missed the boat. We hung around in power too long.

When is the best time to discuss age as a disqualifying factor for one of the most difficult and consequential jobs in the world?

And clearly Biden's age has not done that.

His on-the-job performance and actual achievements have been stellar.

7. The problem therein

The problem therein is that perception is nine tenths of the law. He wins the debate and the election on facts 100% of the time. Trump is a liar.

But you can't look me in the eye and tell me after tonight that the perception of Biden's age deteriorating his ability to function as the leader of the country hasn't gotten worse.

He absolutely has great people around him, making great decisions, but is he electable? Will he win? Will he drag down Senate voter turnout and leave us open to Trump replacing Alito and Thomas with 40 year old Justices?

But if you want to talk about perceptions, we all lived through four terrible years of Trump and we've lived through (almost) four years of steady and stable leadership by Biden as he ushered us out of the pandemic and into the world's preeminent economic success story.

That, along with all the other negatives associated with Trump, will be what rules the day when the election rolls around -- not this early summer debate and not Biden's age """perceptions."""

It doesn't change the fact that it is too late to change candidates. It isn't going to happen.

The stakes are too high for a conversion like that now.

You can infer from my comment that the time likely passed. What good does it do asking that now?

Like Biden or not, he's it at this point. So, now is not the time.

To discuss the viability of his candidacy. This is the same way we got Trump in the first place. Voters don't vote because you threaten them that if they don't something bad will happen. It is a losing strategy.

We don't have a time machine. So, what can we do other than move forward and fight like hell to get Joe Biden reelected in November?

What do you think proposing hypotheticals on things we can't go back and ask will do to help Biden win in November? Do you really think this is helping?

I originally thought Joe’s time to run had passed him by, and then he released his “Charlottesville/Soul of America” ad. Alone of the candidates, he spoke directly to my heart and mind of my deepest fears for this nation.

And Joe made it thru the Primary elections head and shoulders above the rest.

You want to discuss a candidate’s age? Do it in the Primaries, not on the eve of the Democratic National Convention.

And I think it is pretty clear that he, as is all of sane American, scared to death of Trump getting back in.

But in the end we have to have hope and not lose sight of that. It June and there is still plenty of time for things to change and Joe to take the lead. So long as there is life there is hope!

BTW, it is nice to see you again! Been a long time! I don't think I have seen you posting since 2016!
