Was the "no fact checking by moderators" a rule agreed to by the campaigns?

Or was it a unilateral decision by CNN? If the Biden campaign agreed to that as one of the debate rules, then that was a colossal mistake.

I saw last night when I was all over DU and Twitter that said it was agreed to, but nothing was referenced, it was just stated, and like you, I can't find any article or report about that. I do know that it was reported some time before the debate that the moderators would not be fact-checking except, perhaps, on major items. And at the beginning of the debate the moderators said something along those lines. So, the campaigns did know in advance that this would not be happening much, if at all, but whether that was in the rules or specifically agreed to doesn't seem to be verified.
