It's very telling that the people saying POTUS should step aside, are not saying the rapist should drop out.

Trump is a convicted, unrepentant felon who brags about raping women.

Why would it be relevant for them to express an obvious opinion about Trump.

Donnie is a convicted felon, ajudicated rapist, and proven liar. He isn't fit for any office. Tell me again how liberal the media is.

There is nobody on the Democratic side of the fence calling (misguidedly) for the President to step aside who thinks that Trump should be in the race or is any way qualified for the office

And it's mainly because the group calling for Biden to step aside consists of:
People freaking out because they know how dangerous a second Trump presidency would be. This is probably the biggest group. The rest are concern trolls, and people who never liked Biden and feel the debate outcome vindicates them, so they can't help but crow about it.

The Trump PSTD will calm down once it becomes clear this didn't really change much. That will dampen the Biden haters.
And concern trolls are gonna concern troll no matter what.

We just need someone who can call out his lies and respond to the barrage of BS he spews in a coherent forceful way. Biden failed at that last night. That is why people are concerned and some are calling for him to step down. I am very worried about the impact Biden's performance last night will have with undecided voters.

First of all, there really haven’t been many insistent calls that Biden step down, only people daring to broach the subject and consider what the best strategy might be.

What telling about this for Republicans is what we already know: They either believe his lies or don’t care that he lies.

When it comes to the media, it’s telling that they’re primarily addicted to the horse race and not the good of the country. The media knows that Trump didn’t disappoint Trump supporters, but that Biden did disappoint many of his supporters.

When it comes to people on DU who are simply worried about the effects of last night’s debate, whether they specifically broach the idea of Biden stepping down, or just express general anxiety about possible repercussions, it’s most certainly not that they give Trump a pass for lying. It’s that they rightfully worry that too much of the electorate apart from strong Democrats will give Trump that pass.

The fear that Biden might lose the election to the rapist. That’s not unjustified. Is it reasonable to expect a different candidate to be chosen, stepping right into the fray, and in bringing us over the finish line? Of course not. But these calls for Biden to drop out, unreasonable as they might be, are not some sinister plot.

On our side, everyone has said a zillion times that Felon34 should GTFO. Not that it matters. Nobody on that side cares what we think.

The people on our side saying Biden should drop out are panicked. We can only control what we and our party do, so yes, those panicked people are trying to control the only thing they think they can control. But panic helps nobody, and in that panic they’re wanting to do the one thing that’s the biggest possible gift to the GOP. It would throw the Democratic Party into chaos, enduring a GOP win.

The GOP playbook is to double down on insanity until nobody dares question it. The Democratic Party has to be willing to use that same playbook. Instead, yesterday’s poor performance was all about defense, not offense, and that has been the attitude in many ways this campaign season overall.

To start the narrative that Felon34 is demented, that he is a shocking liar, that he is a rapist, etc., the PARTY, not just some activists, has to fully embrace that narrative in talking points every day. They need to have every elected official talking about how Felon34 should be drummed out of his party, and shaming them. That’s how you “swiftboat” someone, and the party itself must play that game before anyone else in the media, etc. will take up the narrative.
