Meanwhile in the Atlantic approaching the Caribbean

Tropical Atlantic (AL95):
A low pressure system located about 1400 miles east-southeast of the
Windward Islands is becoming better defined and the associated
showers and thunderstorms are increasing in organization. If these
trends continue, a tropical depression will likely form later today.
This system is expected to move westward at 15 to 20 mph and
approach the Windward Islands by the end of the weekend, and
Hurricane or Tropical Storm Watches could be required for portions
of that region tonight or early Saturday. For more information,
including gale warnings, see High Seas Forecasts issued by the
National Weather Service.
* Formation chance through 48 hours...high...near 100 percent.
* Formation chance through 7 days...high...near 100 percent.

I lived in S Miami-Dade.

Pretty close to The Crossings, the development that was totally destroyed and collapsed due to the shoddy construction.

Saw semi trucks and 10 ton roof A/C units tossed about like Tonka toys.

250,000 homes destroyed in a few hours. Hundreds of thousand more severely damaged.

Where I lived, power was out for 8 weeks.

There were roving gangs of home invaders.

My dental practice office was destroyed completely.

Cell phones then were Motorola brick phones, storm took the system out.

I get really nervous seeing incoming storms. Not just for me and surroundings, but for my family in Cuba.

They lost everything n had to relocate. We’re better educated with tech advances and the courage hurricane hunters have flying into these storms. Take good care

Was listening to an NPR interview with a NOAA hurricane expert who is worried about how fast a storm in the hot Caribbean can increase intensity.

As the global warming stands, a tropical depression can become a Category 5 within 48 to 56 hours!

Not enough time for proper preparation after a storm has formed.

The prediction models are better, but the speed of intensification has outpaced advance warning times.

Good luck to all in the zone.

many years ago. I was just a kid and we were on the outer banks and sure it started as exciting then the first big gust hits and then it gets terrifying. The outer banks was no place for man nor beast that day.

Hope your flight out is timed right.
