If this excuse of a newspaper can excuse Trumps 34 felony counts, they can excuse us from making them money.
If they want to help Trump win, they wont get any money from me.
Boycott the New York Times.
Boycott Time Magazine, too.

There is NO credible replacement that wouldn't be more risky than Biden, and I am sure Biden knows it.
I agree that TPTB in the Dem Party need to be working out a contingency strategy in case Biden's health takes a sharp turn. But that debate performance was NOT an indicator of that serious a health issue.

I know mega corps think they will do better without regs, but what about when trump and putin and kim jong decide THEY own UPS and THEY own NYT.
I was MOCKED here the other day when I suggested putin would take your home and money when he takes power here along with trump, so even folks on the left are still in denial, some of them.

(79,007 posts)Yet the NYT is bought by democrats, republicans, and independents. They are in the business to make money. They are no more likely to attack the felon & his cult in the same way we do here, than is McDonalds. Those who are addicted to money, like those addicted to meth, should not be expected to behave in good behavior. You'll be disappointed every time.

(38,558 posts)The entire premise of the editorial is that Trump is such a significant threat to democracy that he must be defeated in November, even if it requires Biden stepping aside to accomplish that.

(34,284 posts)step down. Which does FAR more harm than good. That headline. I tried to link the actual photo of the headline but it wont appear.
I venture to guess 97 out of 100 who see it DONT read it.

Add the MILLIONS who only heard the NYT wants him to step down.
Reminds me of the alleged progs who said they would have to hold their nose to vote for Hillary. All you had to do as a fence sitter was hear that and you dont vote.
Ms. Toad
(38,558 posts)That requires journalists (and editorial writers) to use more than a sentence (the headline) to convey ideal - and readers to read the entire article and maybe even go beyond the article.
At a bare minimum, don't make allegations about what the editorial says based solely on the headline.

(12,412 posts)"It scares me: voters voice alarm and disappointment over Bidens debate performance. Even Democrats are now saying it might be time for Biden to hang up the spurs after disastrous debate."
"Ron Ringlund is the president of a machine shop in southern Wisconsin. At 71 years old, he knows what its like to keep working after many have retired and had shrugged off concerns about Joe Bidens age until last night.
"I was thinking, Well, its just the Republicans are putting that out there to make him look bad, you know but he looked bad last night, said Ringlund, who said he usually votes for Democrats, and views Donald Trump as a threat to democracy. Wisconsins neck and neck right now, and just one thing can make the difference. And I think last night could have been the difference, and it scares me.
"After Bidens difficult debate performance on Thursday, Democrats and independent voters in swing states say they are increasingly disappointed and alarmed by the choice before them in November."

(5,506 posts)Yes, although I would argue that it is the one third or so of the electorate who don't vote (around one third are actually authoritarians, or ok with authoritarianism). Ignorance and apathy are the Achilles' heels of democracy. If we had more education and engagement we would not be where we are now.

(3,603 posts)And the Republicans and media barely bat an eyelash. On the other hand, seeing that Biden didn't walk on water this time we are busy setting Biden and ourselves on fire, perpetuing the Republican narrative for them.
How about we all stick behind our candidate, plow through this fucking nonsense and continue to show the stark differences between Joe Biden and this proven monster Trump.
TexasDem69

The GOP sticks with their candidate through thick and thin, then make a comeback. We stuff ours under the bus (ie., Franken) and just lose a good person.

From 2017 on... wait for it... CNN.com
https://www.cnn.com/2017/07/20/politics/trump-new-york-times/index.html
--------------
President Donald Trump was sworn in on Jan. 20. Between that day and today, he has referred to the New York Times as failing in no fewer than 17 tweets.
Which begs the question: Why, on Wednesday, did Trump give three New York Times reporters nearly an hour of his time for a sit-down interview in which he touched on everything from Attorney General Jeff Sessions to French President Emmanuel Macrons penchant for hand-holding to his theories about the cold-weather attributes of Russian soldiers?
If the New York Times is, indeed, failing, a joke, and fake news all of which Trump has called it this year why acknowledge they even exist much less spend an hour with them?
Or, in the words of Anderson Cooper: Why on Gods green earth does the President of the United States gives this interview today of all days when the focus is supposed to be on health care and this is also Buy American Week?
The answer is simple: Donald Trump doesnt think the New York Times is failing. Or a joke. Or fake news. Far from it.

(36,385 posts)I've kept my subscription with the NYT mainly coz I have to call to cancel it, and the time zone differences make it hard. But every time I read the NYT I get annoyed coz of the way they make out that Trump is a legitimate candidate when he's not. I'm also annoyed at the pro-Israel bias they have. So I think I'm going to cancel it this week and keep the Guardian and add the Sydney Morning Herald or the Canberra Times...
