I have to get some things off my chest
I don't think Biden was well served by his debate preppers.
I am a lowly retiree and and not a seasoned pol but these are my thoughts on rebuttal
When he says “They talk about a relatively small number of people that went to the Capitol and in many cases were ushered in by the police.” It was in fact the deadliest assault on the seat of American power in over 200 years with hand-to-hand combat with police.
When he says everybody wanted Roe overturned, ask about 171,000 women that had to leave the state for reproductive care last year. Republicans love the fetus but ignore the child. If they cared they would fund Child Tax credit, provide school meals and expand and supplement day care.
We he says 3-day old babies can be aborted, reply that is unlawful in all 50 states. Not to mention its absurd. When asked about how late an abortion can occur. One can state the fact that 99% of procedures happen in the first 20 weeks. Later term operations are almost always wanted pregnancies. The mothers have already purchased cribs, painted nurseries, had baby reveal parties and then tragic news comes from the physician of serious abnormalities. A so-called small government should not interfere.
When he says he will end Ukraine war, what he would do is give territory to Russia. When he says he will get Wall Street reporter freed, it is a cynical twist manipulation of a US citizen’s rights. It should be pointed out the traitorous conversation with Putin that he claims that he had after the Ukraine war started. He was not president on February 24, 2022. Remember Xi and Putin together at the Winter Olympics – no doubt postponing the invasion until after the event was over.
When he says that he did not have sex with a porn star. Point out that he cheated on wife 1 with wife 2, cheated on wife 2 with wife 3, and cheated on wife 3 with a Playboy playmate and a porn star. He is an adjudicated rapist a owes $93 million in penalties.
When he brags about what a good businessman that he is. He can no longer do business in his hometown and owes half a billion dollars in fines for fraud.
When he says that the DOJ is weaponized against him. It was a state court, state grand jury and 12 NYC peers that found him guilty of 34 felonies.
When he says Biden is a criminal because of millions in Chinese dealings challenge him for proof. If proof were there the House Oversite Committee would have been all over it. A counterpoint is the multiple patents and deals to his daughter, sweetheart loan to Jarod on 666 Fifth Ave. property and $2 billon dollar deal from Saudis.
When he says that immigrants are getting Social Security and Medicare payments it should be easy to prove how ludicrous this is. If anything, they are paying into the Social Security and Medicare system with every paycheck and may never benefit from those payments. They are also paying federal, state and sales taxes. Immigrant issues should be addressed as well as border security but the plain fact is they add trillions to the GDP. If you think housing is expensive, fruits and vegetables, meat processing or health care – what will happen when millions are deported. He routinely says that migrants are causing crime increases. Crime is decreasing in much of the US.
When he says that Biden want to raise taxes by 4X. Biden has always said that no one making less than $400K will get any increase.
When he says that “during my four years, I had the best environmental numbers ever” and that he supports “immaculate” air and water. He rolled back some provisions of the Clean Water Act, eased regulations on coal, oil and gas companies and pulled the U.S. out of the Paris climate accord. He proposed deep cuts to the Environmental Protection Agency.
Stock exchanges are close to record levels. I know that the exchanges are not the real economy but my 401K has looked pretty good lately. The inflation rate over the last 6 months is lower than any of the 8 years of Reagan presidency. Unemployment is the lowest since the 1950s and 4 million more people are working than before the pandemic.
