To serve his country, Donald Trump should leave the raceThe Editorial Board
57 minutes (long)
(excerpt)
Biden has surrounded himself with experienced people who take public service seriously. He has passed major bipartisan legislation despite a dysfunctional Republican House majority.
Biden believes in the best of America. He has rebuilt relationships with allies around the world and stood up to foes like Russia and China.
There was only one person at the debate who does not deserve to be running for president. The sooner Trump exits the stage, the better off the country will be.

But lost in the hand wringing was Donald Trumps usual bombastic litany of lies, hyperbole, bigotry, ignorance, and fear mongering. His performance demonstrated once again that he is a danger to democracy and unfit for office.
In fact, the debate about the debate is misplaced. The only person who should withdraw from the race is Trump.
Trump, 78, has been on the political stage for eight years marked by chaos, corruption, and incivility. Why go back to that?......

(9,977 posts)He wants to "serve" (save) himself first (like the first time and now to avoid prison time).
And if he succeeds (doubtful but it's close while it should not be) then he'd serve Putin first.

(8,944 posts)Ageism is a discrimination that has not been addressed in America, and part of that is you don't recognize it until you are older and receive a dose of it.
I think most of us older Americans who have paid our taxes and fought the battles leading up to this think "well, they are going to find out when they get older".
Maybe we should call it out to their face, or at least say you need to think about what you just said to me because you will face it when you are older.

(23 posts)The White House is no place for a felon who proved his business acumen with six bankruptcies.
He relies on support from Putin, and that should be more widely recognized.
The latest DOJ filing the Federal Court in Florida includes an affidavit from a senior investigator in Fulton County describing doxxing by a dark wed Russian site revealing personal info re the Prosecuting Attorney, Jude, Gury Jury Members and witnesses, All this encuraed by the Felon in Chief.

(8,944 posts)and tell him (putin) as US Citizens we are tired of his interference in our political lives,
and that we will find a way to KILL HIM (putin), if Trump wins this election.
I'm so sick of that SMUG ASS BASTARD.
As a start, if there is proof of the slightest Russian interference in this election or interference with the justice department, we should expel every Russian from the US who is not a US citizen, and that would be just a start. Clean out the Russian Embassy and enclaves of their intelligence, put them on a boat in the Bering Straits and drop them off in Siberia.

(2,292 posts)What if Trump goes to jail and the R/R/R party does a reality check and chooses a different candidate?
I'm 80 and very much aware that things happen. I'm talking about health disasters. Yes, things happen at any age, but there are probabilities not to ignore.
Since the party is running the show from here on in, are there contingency plans? Remember, this is pretty much an all or nothing election for democracy.

(3,589 posts)This should have been the clarion call from the first indictment, let alone the convictions. Now the others need to step up. The debate was not won by tfg, he spewed lies and trash talk and didnt answer the questions. Biden while having a sore throat did answer the questions and on point. The criminal who is running to pardon himself must not be allowed in office. Im sure the founding fathers are rolling in their graves.

When someone fills in the blank with an exceptionally qualified person with Biden's character, experience and vision who can win the election I'll consider whether the current president should step down.

(24 posts)over some philosophical differences. The MSM trashing of Biden has brought me back. Thanks for posting this. Its a voice crying out in the wilderness. You dont abandon a good, honest, decent person and effective leader because of a bad showing at a single debate, especially against an opponent who is an unhinged lunatic and convicted felon. If anyone should step down it is the lunatic who is unfit to serve in any government job, much less the highest one. All that is standing between us and anarchy is Biden. He isnt going anywhere and its up to us to organize, contribute, and vote. The alternative is too awful to contemplate.

(81,351 posts)The entire Philadelphia Inquirer editorial is worth reading as it lists the many reasons why Donald Trump is too dangerous to serve a 2nd term.
But these last 5 paragraphs explaining why Joe Biden is not only the better alternative to Trump, but why he's up to the job?
