I seriously thought yesterday this site was starting to move past the debate but holy shit I see more doom threads today than I did on Friday!

(5,462 posts)Lots of bad faith actors and pure idiots blew their cover on Thursday night. Then sane people pushed back (record fundraising for the president, no real change so far in polls). Now the aforementioned group is mad and wants to keep pushing its narrative.

(46,155 posts)Weekdays in general more rational. Weekends are somewhat doom and gloomy, Sunday being the worst.

(24,277 posts)stories of anonymous Democrats being concerned. Ive been here since 2004 and have seen the same hand wringing every single Pres. election over every gaffe our candidate made. Also, an influx of people suddenly interested in the race. Meanwhile, Trump gets to skate because Pres. Biden was hoarse on Thurs. night. Hes low key. Not a raving lunatic like Trump.

(20,589 posts)Watching 12-16 hours of cable news every day. And Im sure the cable news assessment of the debate for Biden has been quite grim.

By AJC Editorial Board
In an impassioned campaign rally on Friday, President Joe Biden tried to convince American voters that his alarming performance on a debate stage here in Atlanta the night before was an aberration.
I dont speak as smoothly as I used to. I dont debate as well as I used to. But I know what I do know. I know how to tell the truth. I know right from wrong. The 81-year-old president has shown a greater capacity to tell the truth than his opponent, former President Donald Trump.
But the unfortunate truth is that Biden should withdraw from the race, for the good of the nation he has served so admirably for half a century.
(snip)
The shade of retirement is now necessary for President Biden.
much more....

(15,462 posts)opinion pieces by 'very important people'
And opinion pieces, being of course written by very important people with superlative political minds .. have got this all nailed down for the poor average joe (lacking, of course, the superlative political mind of their betters)
There is also (as always) a huge, huge helping of 'confirmation bias' coming to the fore ... With people going out and affirming their own preconceived attitudes and inclinations. There are of course opinion pieces out there offering the countervailing point of view. (and to be fair, people are posting them too)

(5,410 posts)What is pissing me off now is this attempt by the pundit and publishing class to PUSH President Biden OUT of this campaign, which would cancel out the vote I cast for this nomination (something that is usually what REPUBLICANS are always trying to do)...
acting like they have a VETO over the votes of the delegates at the Democratic convention... it's an outright feeding frenzy today.
I got a newsflash for them: They DON'T have a veto over our nomination,
or over my vote....
And they ought to be demanding that Donald TRUMP withdraw from this race,
for the many, many reasons that I won't bother to relist here...

(40,888 posts)The worst thing is the framing by democrats in the media about Biden stepping down.
This has shown such a lack of support.
They don't even come up with names so it feels subversive and self indulgent.
Everyone seems to be out for themselves and their fucking opinion.
Too much pressure is on one man.

(2,714 posts)I quit watching those shows decades ago. I also quit watching the "analysis" following speeches and debates. I can make up my own mind, thank you. I don't want anybody telling me what to think, so I don't watch any of those. These "experts" aren't any more knowledgeable than I am, and I have been following US politics since the late 1960s, when I was still in middle school.

(208 posts)But stupidly the democrats (some) have joined the choir. Not only are the republicans and the media jumping all over Joe, his own party is! And its spreading like wildfire! Please stop giving it energy. And donate anything.
Has no one learned from 2016?!?!?
Its infuriating!
