Bernie Sanders doctors say he is fit to serve as president after heart attack

Joe should just do the same: Release medical records about the debate and a statement from his doctor that he had a cold and was on medication (or whatever was the situation).
And then we MOVE ON!

(34,216 posts)He likely had allergies. Unlike a heart attack, he didn't have "much going on" that isn't in his record already. He was fine the next day.
It was also probably other things: fatigue, poor debate prep, history of stuttering, bad mic settings (he talks soft, so he needs mic settings. Don't know why the mic settings weren't adjusted for him and why it has been that way throughout numerous press conferences.

(7,186 posts)If he had a cold or whatever, a President has immediately available medical attention.
LeftInTX
(34,216 posts)He has allergies like half of the country does. He likely didn't consult with his doctor. I think "cold" was sent to the media by his team.
If he had something contagious, why did he go to the Waffle House immediately following the debate????

For example, you saying he has allergies is the first I've ever heard of that, and I follow politics pretty closely. If he was suffering from allergies, was he on medication and what are its side effects? Our President needs to inform and calm the nation. The way he looked was alarming to many....
The next day he was in North Carolina and gave a rousing speech. He stopped periodically in that and had some full throated coughs, not just polite clearing of throat, like during the debate. It sounded like a progressive cough, indicative of a respiratory event, like a cold or, as you say, allergies.
Wouldn't he want us to know?

(33,053 posts)Most of us with seasonal allergies receive little help from the medical profession. We have to figure it out by ourselves by trial and error. Traveling to different parts of the country adds greatly to the difficulties of managing the problem.

(34,216 posts)The flight surgeon is the doctor assigned the president while he is traveling.
Allergists give allergy shots, they rarely provide urgent care. A flight surgeon can provide urgent care for common ailments.
This is ridiculous. Who on earth has an allergist traveling with them at all times?
Almost everyone in the United States has allergies.
I'm really wondering here?????

(34,216 posts)I have no idea...
If anything, it would be something like
Presentation: Mild hoarseness and sinus congestion. Mild inflammation of pharynx
DX: Irritation of the pharynx due to allergies and acid reflux.
TX: Continue with Pepcid AC and prescribed allergy medications
(Not written...drink water and suck on lozenges if speaking. Sometimes doctors forgot to tell us the obvious)

(34,216 posts)Generally at the least, a heart attack would make you walk off stage. It would be against medical advice to stay on stage during a heart attack.
Everyone gets colds. Unless his doctor ordered him not to engage in public speaking, it would be futile.

With me: I get laryngitis at the drop of a hat.
Laryngitis does not show up on a routine exam.
It's a symptom. And it can happen really fast with me.
Other people don't get laryngitis.
Once you get it, it tends to come back. I've had it dozens of times.

Or when he started speaking, Joe should have said, "You'll have to pardon me, folks. I have a touch of laryngitis." (Hence the weak voice.)
