This BET award show is the most political awards show I've seen. VP Harris called in

to talk to Taraji. That was pre taped for the show. Lol at VP Harris taking a page out of the Drake/Kendrick beef - They not like us - in reference to the MAGA extremists. Taraji went on a tirade about the Supreme Court. Telling the audience that it’s now illegal to be homeless. Usher gave a shout out to black men and black fathers. ( Byron Donalds is out here talking his nonsense about absent black fathers). Killer Mike talked about the importance of voting in local elections, knowing your local representatives and if you don’t like them, then run yourself. The Black PAC ads shown in the commercial breaks are well done.

At my age, I rarely tune into award shows. I wanted to see 2 things, Will Smith’s triumphant return to music with his new song and the tribute to Usher.
By the way, Will Smith’s new song could be Biden’s theme song - It’s about persevering through adversity.

Anyhoo, glad I’ve stayed the course to watch the entire show.

Donalds, a Black prop/apologist for MAGA who's denied the 2020 election and doesn't acknowledge Biden as the legitimate President?

the anti-vaxxer who's denied systemic racism, and said life for Black families was better under Jim Crow? among other a-sucking pronouncements on behalf of white supremacists?

invited this CLOWN so that he could hawk reich wing dog whistle talking points by deriding and belittling Black men?

Planning on watching it at a later date.

Otherwise good to hear they addressed such important issues as noted. As you may or may not know I've lamented (in past posts) the seeming obliviousness of the celebrity, sports, and recording artist community to the ever nearing existential threat to democracy that Trump and MAGA certainly PROMISE.

Always believed they should be doing and saying a WHOLE lot more.

I’m sorry I missed it. I imagine there will be recaps tomorrow. That’s an important venue for reaching out to black and young voters.
