Update on: Texas Towelie asked me to give DUers an update...

Last edited Mon Jul 1, 2024, 04:31 PM - Edit history (1)

Update on the update:

Just got back from visiting Texas Towelie and I'm happy to report he seems to be in good spirits and is getting good care. He is scheduled to have an ablation Wednesday.

Calimary, you'll be glad to know I brought him a plant with 3 different specimens in it, which I hope will not be easy to kill. I think it would take me a while to kill it and I think he's probably a better gardener than me.

He is unable to respond to messages and posts at present because he has been hospitalized for an elevated heart rate. He has been intubated twice, but is not intubated now. He will be seeing a cardiologist and may require an ablation to stabilize his heart rate. He says to tell you all he will catch up when he is back to his computer, as for now he has only his cell phone. Apparently he has been hospitalized for a number of days, but wasn't sure how many.

Please keep him in your thoughts and send him good healing vibes.

Sounds like he’s having a rough bout but I’ll find the pony here and say they can treat this. Ablations are common and hopefully will be totally successful.

If this is your first ablation, there's not much pain. Just the two vein insertion points at the groin.

Hopefully, all goes well. If so, you might find yourself home the same afternoon.

See about getting a loop recorder inserted so they can monitor your heart every month to see if you are OK.

My AFib was exacerbated due to sleep apnea, and the low oxygen also affected my optic nerves a bit. Perhaps check to see if you have apnea, because I had a cardioversion and a week later apnea kicked me out of a normal heart rate. The second cardioversion was unsuccessful, so I was scheduled for the ablation. Between the ablation and the ResMed AirSense11, I'm back to normal.

so he shouldn't bee too nervious about it if he decides tp go that route after he talks to the doctor.

My own tachycardia responded well to a low dose of beta blockers, so I decided to stick with those, they're cheaper than dirt.

His sounds a lot more serious than mine is. I hope he's on the mend soon. He's missed here.
