General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsThere are two possible options that can save us now:
1. A Covid variant that only attack republicans
2. We all got off our butts and vote Democratic up and down the ballot in a massive turnout.
I think point 2 has the best chance

I heard two things I was not sure of:
1. there is no guarantee to the right to vote in the Constitution
2. there is no requirement states assign electoral votes based on a popular election

(1,378 posts)States can assign their EVs how ever they want to, and the right to vote isn't specifically in the Constitution (there are only amendments specifying the right can't be prevented on account of being a woman or by race --- other reasons would be fine).

(42 posts)As shown in 2021 after the vaccine was available the death rate for Repubs was significantly higher than that for Democrats. That will be the same for any new resurgence, because vaccination rate by party have not changed.

(2,296 posts)It is clear that six Republicans on the supreme court have chosen to shred the most basic purpose of the US Constitution. They are complicit, active members of the right wing coup.
The president took an oath. He promised to "preserve, protect, and defend the constitution".
He needs to get his ass in gear and do that! God damn it.
The court has given him immunity. So, short of ordering them killed, he needs to do something. Revoke their citizenship, deport them is my best idea.

(2,937 posts)Have a SC of 3, or make the majority sane and rational instead of those purchased and owned by trump. He has been given a gift to act with immunity, so I really hope he does something with that.

(8,390 posts)When the Court overturned Roe two years ago. I also want them to remember how angry and in despair they are today.
I want people to turn that anger, and that despair, into their votes and to use that anger and despair to get their neighbors to vote, of course for Joe. Personally, I'd crawl over broken glass to vote for him and I encourage you all to be as pissed off as I am.
