A good politician looks to the teleprompter to cue him as to where he is at the speech, then faces the audience in front of him.

I saw him do it on Friday. The problem is that the camera was straight in front of him, but the reporters were left and right, and that that's what he focused on.

...but my goal is to win the election, not to feel good about what my candidate said. One thing I've done for the past 24 years is go up to New Hampshire the weekend before the Primary and sit in on every campaign event to see how different candidates are doing. I've learned some things about campaigning, and once is that you speak TO THE VOTERS. That could be the audience in front of you at a rally or town hall, OR it could be TO THE CAMERA in the case of a televised speech. This is something I know Biden can do because I've seen it before. And it frustrates me when candidates lose an opportunity to connect to the voters for technical flaws.

In part:

I understand the goal of the campaign is to forge ahead, but I think they need a more proactive strategy of getting Biden and Harris out in public more frequently, both to tamp down the “drop out” echoes which haven’t subsided, and to give voters a comfort level that he’s up to the job and the campaign. The ABC interview is a start, but he should be doing more press events (an “answer all questions” press conference?) and having more public engagement in the critical battleground States where local news outlets will run with the story.
