New Jersey law says that no one who has been convicted of a crime involving moral turpitude, should possess a liquor license, and the AGs Division of Alcohol Beverage Control determined that Trump directly financially benefits from the permits, according to a statement from the office.
The two clubs affected Trump National Golf Club Colts Neck and Trump National Golf Club Bedminster will serve alcohol under a temporary permit until a July 19 renewal hearing in Trenton. The hearing eight days after Trumps felony sentencing will determine the official fate of the licenses, which expired on Sunday. License applicants are required to prove at the hearings that they can maintain their licenses.
A final judgment of conviction that raises the prospect of disqualifying Mr. Trump from an interest in a New Jersey liquor license due to the guilty verdict in New York will not be entered until after his sentencing, currently scheduled for July 11, according to the AGs office.
Chump has wiggle room on this issue because the liquor licenses for both of these clubs is in the name of Donald Chump Jr. But the ruling states that Chump Senior benefits from the revenue and the profits of these clubs, and he's the sole beneficiary of the Donald J. Trump Revocable Trust which holds all the assets of these organizations.
So there will be another hearing, and I have no doubt the Chump weasel lawyers will be working overtime on this.
Thank you New Jersey for doing the right thing!

(45,007 posts)And why was that? A different chain of ownership, or was a quid quo pro compromise deal struck?

(41,976 posts)I don't think their license is up for renewal yet. If that's the case then the AG doesn't need to step in, for now.
Does anyone from New Jersey know the answer? Please enlighten us.

(45,007 posts)maybe it's just a coincidence that the other two clubs "qualified" to be scrutinized. I just think it looks very odd (and very un-journalistic) that the article didn't "say."

(38,080 posts)Or Reviewed. We just renewed our liquor licenses in our borough last Monday evening.
If denied/revoked when active - hearing.
If inactive - it goes back to the municipality to re-assign.
One of ours was purchased for 1.2M and brought to our Borough but followed all of the rules to bring it here.
We are still under the limitations of post reversal of Prohibition.
We have friends that own a successful restaurant in Bedminster but BYOB. If they could apply for that license - it would be awesome!

(41,976 posts)Two of them just lost their liquor license, but there will be a hearing later in July. I'm sure his weasel lawyers will make something happen and get it overturned. Otherwise he'll lose TONS of business.
