He is being supremely idiotic. It would hand the election to Trump! Just DISGUSTING! Deek1935 Jul 2024 #7
It is him doing the eating. Going against our party. Going against our own incumbent nominee. SHAME ON HIM! Deek1935 Jul 2024 #8
OK. I think he has a point. He's hardly going against his own Party. He wants Democrats to win. Silent Type Jul 2024 #9
You are feeding a narrative that will result in electoral suicide. If we lose incumbency and party unity we LOSE. Deek1935 Jul 2024 #10
And how would Dems win this late in the game if Pres. Biden withdrew? MarineCombatEngineer Jul 2024 #11
Rightly or wrongly, these people have decided he likely won't win. I'm still struggling. Silent Type Jul 2024 #12
I guess my question is, MarineCombatEngineer Jul 2024 #13
Without incumbency and party unity we lose to Trump. See the only predictive system that has never failed. Deek1935 Jul 2024 #14

Austin Dem Rep. Lloyd Doggett needs to STFU and withdraw his statement for the good of the country, full stop.

But, to put yourself on the line like that, takes guts. Especially with all the "bash our own" philosophy.

Lichtman's 13 keys is the only history based time tested predictive system that has ever worked. Professor Lichtman has never been wrong. We are already most likely down 4. Go down to 6 and we lose to Trump. If we lose the party unity and incumbency keys, that is 6 and we lose.

Debates are not predictive. Neither are polls. Neither is punditry. Forget the noise. Stay with the incumbent. Keep the party together. Or get ready for 4 more years of Trump. It is that simple.

than Lichtman never included simply because it never came into play before and seemed too outlandish to ever come into play: public perception of the cognitive status of the candidate.
The most ominous thing about this is its sheer graspability among the general public: everyone knows an elderly relative that eventually ‘lost it’ and with which what is happening to Joe will jarringly resonate.
None of us is immune to the ravages of time. There is no disgrace in that.
I fear the opposite TBH: that Joe’s continuation will hand the election to Trump.

Freethinking, rational people. Blinkered, uncritical loyalty to a leader and the suppression of dissent belongs to the other side.
At least listen to what Doggett had to say with an open mind.
