..it was an entire segment of Rep. Pelosi expressing support and confidence in Joe Biden

What was the quote where you're claiming this happened?

Sick of misinformation. Your post used all of the support she expressed to gaslight about what the leader's remarks were in response to a DUer asking what she had said. You completely misrepresented the interview and her responses.

Although Pelosi raved about Biden’s record as president, I wouldn’t call her response a full throated unconditional endorsement of Biden the candidate.

She clearly acknowledged that the campaign had work to do to reassure voters and repair the damage done by Biden’s poor performance at the debate. She even said “I’m not a doctor, who knows what could happen 3-4 years from now”.

She also acknowledged that Biden could drop out, saying “that’s his decision to make”, while not taking a position for, or importantly, against him withdrawing from the race.

... that's why you couldn't find a quote to post from the interview to back up ANY of your claims.

Post one.

Positing in response to MITCHELL's question that she thinks interviews with major press would do him good isn't anything of the kind you're claiming.

Ffs, he's just announced an interview with ABC.

You couldn't have spun that more biased against Pres. Biden if you were Andrea Mitchell, herself.

Mitchell badgered her and she responded with incredulousness, not some slam on Biden.

But exchanges like this is why I'm abandoning ship.

Your attitude toward the other member is disgusting. "Friendly forums for passion Dems!" is a complete lie. I came to DU hoping for a more compassionate, thoughtful space, and, unfortunately, it sucks just as much as Reddit. I doubt much anyone will see this, but y'all need to get your shit together.

...And for what it's worth, asking Biden to prove that he's up to the job is the *least* I should be able to expect from our party. Bashing anyone and everyone who saw the debate and is *understandably* concerned is just telling people, "Don't look up." Not a good look.

Good bye and good riddance.

It's the entire six months I've been here (and lurking before that).

If we want to live up to being a big-tent party, then we sure need to start treating everyone with respect. If we can't even do that on an explicitly-Democratic forum (with a tagline using the word "friendly," no less), then I'm pretty concerned about how alienated people are going to feel in the general population. We need to get as many people to vote for Biden as possible. What I'm seeing here on DU ain't gonna cut it.

And, for real, what's with not having an option to delete your entire account? I went to do that after my above comment, couldn't find it, then found a couple posts explaining it's not allowed. Kind of weird.

But he needs to prove to everyone on the fence (who have *good* reason to doubt after the debate) that he's still up to the job; a bad cold doesn't begin to explain some of his answers. His first term boasts some amazing accomplishments, especially considering the total dysfunction of the Republicans, but I genuinely worry that won't be enough. The average voter doesn't pay attention like people on DU. They don't remember these things at the ballot box. The onus is on Joe to prove he's still got it, and no amount of berating others online (not referring to you) is going to fix that. He's got to do the work.

We're kind of in uncharted territory here, and the Media echo chamber still isn't helping Biden any, still harping on the age and debate performance. There's not been a break-out -yet.
I suspect she's thinking of having Biden use Media Access to rehabilitate his "image" and point out how the Supreme Court activity is making Project 2025 more likely, and what that could mean for the US. I could be wrong, but she may subtly be pushing him to step outside his comfort zone and address the elephant shitting in the middle of the room.

Tue Jul 2, 2024, 03:41 PM

...the entire interview was the leader supporting and expressing confidence in Pres. Biden's abilities under withering propaganda from Mitchell.

In no way did the leader express any disapproval or lack of support for the president. It was exactly the opposite, so you're just projecting and distorting what she said throughout.

Why? How can you even imagine that was her intention after praising the president all ways but Sunday in that interview with a hostile host?

I think the issue is interpreting her words (or lack thereof) for us to mean something she may have had no intention of saying. That's a REAL stretch.

Look hard enough for something and you're going to find it.

That applies equally to what Nancy didn't say as it does to divisions that weaken the Democratic party.
