Never got to actually meet him, but he spoke at my high school graduation back in the day.

When the young Japanese Americans returned to Hawai’i after WWII, they ultimately created a new generation of politicians for change, of public school teachers, of administrators in the Dept of Education.

As kids we naturally simply took this social landscape for granted — but it was a long hard road they had traveled.

As for George Takei, I’ve loved the guy ever since he was Mr. Sulu on Star Trek.
