Plenty on our side are alarmed at Trump's polling leads. Consider that Joe has always been a compromise candidate - middle left. Some on our side think a more centrist candidate would do better, others think a more progressive candidate would do better. Panic over a possible Trump second term has caused a strong knee jerk reaction to try and swap Joe for the type of candidate that they think might do better.

The icing on the cake is the current state of the US media. News isn't about the news, its about selling advertising. Controversy and drama drive views, which drives revenue. So our media has a vested interest in doing everything they can to fan the flames and stir up trouble.
