Heritage Foundation president celebrates Supreme Court presidential immunity ruling: "We are in the process of the second American Revolution, which will remain bloodless if the left allows it to be"Link to tweet
KEVIN ROBERTS (HERITAGE FOUNDATION PRESIDENT): In spite of all this nonsense from the left, we are going to win. We're in the process of taking this country back. No one in the audience should be despairing.
No one should be discouraged. We ought to be really encouraged by what happened yesterday. And in spite of all of the injustice, which, of course, friends and audience of this show, of our friend Steve know, we are going to prevail.
Number two, to the point of the clips and, of course, your preview of the fact that I am an early American historian and love the Constitution. That Supreme Court ruling yesterday on immunity is vital, and it's vital for a lot of reasons. But I would go to Federalist No. 70.
If people in the audience are looking for something to read over Independence Day weekend, in addition to rereading the Declaration of Independence, read Hamilton's No. 70 because there, along with some other essays, in some other essays, he talks about the importance of a vigorous executive.
You know, former congressman, the importance of Congress doing its job, but we also know the importance of the executive being able to do his job. And can you imagine, Dave Brat, any president, put politics off to the side, any president having to second guess, triple guess every decision they're making in their official capacity, you couldn't have the republic that you just described.
But number three, let me speak about the radical left. You and I have both been parts of faculties and faculty senates and understand that the left has taken over our institutions. The reason that they are apoplectic right now, the reason that so many anchors on MSNBC, for example, are losing their minds daily is because our side is winning.
And so I come full circle on this response and just want to encourage you with some substance that we are in the process of the second American Revolution, which will remain bloodless if the left allows it to be.

I hope to live long enough to see this country right itself, though that may be the work of at least a generation. Still, morning hope is better than midnight despair.

Who is the radical left? I dont consider myself either radical or left. I consider myself a Centrist Democrat.
This fascist, extreme ideation has to stop. Republicans are a minority party. They live in a dream world of hate, fear and retaliation for perceived wrongs.
I never hear a single Republican talk about their vision for America. Why is that?

(510 posts)Nonprofit organizations have strict requirements about avoiding political activity. So, maybe consider sending a complaint into the IRS about the Heritage Foundation's abuse of their tax exempt status (Project 2025 would be a good topic). Most nonprofit organizations are very protective of their tax exempt status and are loathe to do anything that would endanger it. But, the Heritage Foundation is very much involved in political activity.
Here is the link in case you want to consider it (https://www.irs.gov/charities-non-profits/irs-complaint-process-tax-exempt-organizations).

(8,976 posts)He says he loves the constitution, but I call BS on that. He wants a president that's beyond the constitution; someone who can act like the King George our ancestors fought to free themselves from 240 years ago.
If immunity is so vital for a president, why wasn't it vital for each and every president prior to Trump?
Kevin Roberts is so full of shit. He just wants someone in power who hates the same people he hates, and is ready, willing, and able to treat them with the same callous viciousness he would like to have the power to also do.
His dream is a Putin style dictatorship where there is only one party and anyone who opposes it is either dead, in prison, has fled the country, or lives a life of daily fear of attack.
His second revolution is a kill shot to our Constitutional, Democratic Republic.

(8,976 posts)Dictator on day one.
Prosecuting his enemies, which includes any member of Congress that voted for his impeachment, and all the January 6th panel members. Plus, all those prosecutors, lawyers, judges, and jury members who ever dared to bring him to trial and convict him. Plus all the members of the news media who criticized him. The list is endless.
Throwing millions of illegal and LEGAL immigrants out of the country.
How far do I have to go? He wants to be a dictator. That requires a rejection of the rule of law, including the constitution. He wants a consequences free presidency so he can act with impunity to do whatever he wants to whom ever he wants.
Does that answer your question?
Ohioboy
(3,885 posts)I meant in the context of other presidents didn't need more power, only one that wants to be a dictator.

(211 posts)But the argument the petulant colonists had was more with Parliament than it was with King George III. The British system already had a limited monarchy at the time and in reality it was the policies and taxes levied by Parliament that angered the colonists, who felt they shouldn't even have to pay for their own defense. In fact, though, the ordinary Brit in Britland paid more in taxes than the American colonist did. The whole conflict was ginned up by a colonial elite chaffing at the limitations of empire. They wanted to get richer and so they dragged ordinary colonists along with them, as elites often do. No surprise that it was a rich man's fight, paid for with the poor man's blood. I for one am not completely sure it was worth it, especially seeing what we ended up with.

(178,710 posts)Heritage Foundation President Kevin Roberts raised new concerns with a cryptic threat about a "second American Revolution.

Eleven years later, the idea that the Heritage Foundation is producing the best intellectual conservative ideas is plainly laughable, as its president reminded the public again yesterday. HuffPost noted:
The head of an organization behind an influential policy document expected to guide a potential second Donald Trump administration declared that theres a revolution taking place right now. And he appeared to deliver an ominous warning to the radical left as he spoke.
We are in the process of the second American Revolution, which will remain bloodless ― if the left allows it to be, Kevin Roberts, president of the right-wing Heritage Foundation, said on a conservative media outlet called Real Americas Voice.
Link to tweet
.......And while those concerns are warranted, theyre made worse by the broader significance of Heritages ongoing political efforts.
Whos responsible for the radical Project 2025 agenda? The Heritage Foundation.
Whos pre-screening the ideologies of thousands of people in the hopes of installing a pre-vetted, pro-Trump army of up to 54,000 loyalists across the federal government? The Heritage Foundation.
Whos funding an apparent blacklist of federal government workers who might stand in the way of a MAGA agenda? The Heritage Foundation.
Who put up billboards in Alabama in support of Republican Sen. Tommy Tuberville while he undermined his own countrys military? The Heritage Foundation.
Which groups former staffers have complained about their former employers prioritizing political messaging over policy formation? The Heritage Foundation.
Whose president might be in contention for White House chief of staff in a second Trump term? The Heritage Foundation.
It was against this backdrop that Heritages chief told a national television audience, We are in the process of the second American Revolution, which will remain bloodless ― if the left allows it to be, which was every bit as unsettling as it seemed.
The Heritage Foundation is now a right wing nut job organization that is not recognizable from the organization that Orin Hatch knew.
