We have just witnessed a muti-faceted propaganda campaign

The audio levels were never normalized.
The NYT editorials were ready to go.
The FOX spots flooded the airwaves.
The foreign bots were booted.
The dormant accounts were activated.
The righteous indignation was turned up to eleven.
("How dare you call me a troll", said every troll ever.)

All of this was done in support of tax cuts for the wealthy.
Nothing else matters to the masters of the universe, they want their tax cuts and they will support a rapist to get them.
If he gets back in office they will likely be supporting a rapist and a murderer until it is their turn to have their assets stripped and their children raped. Yes, he rapes little boys too. (allegedly, I believe it)

The media is owned by wealthy, they use their bullhorn to their advantage.
All this noise is designed to distract us from the ugliness that is Trump.

Trump lost the debate, why isn't there more disgust for his racism. ( Black job anyone? I think I have one.)
The Epstein transcripts have been released. Oh dear, these are too tawdry to talk about within the polite newspace.
Where are the rest of our classified documents? His behavior is treasonous.

Next year at this time, unless there are two very specific deaths, our president will be either Joe Biden or Donald Trump.
That is what our current electoral process will support. If one of these two is not in the race the other will win the electoral college.
I want it to be Joe Biden, if you are on this board, you should too.

Joe Biden is a decent man and a successful president, you cannot truthfully say that about Trump.

Joe Biden is a great President and a superior human being.

TSF is. RAPIST TRAITOR. And I would add psychopath.

I saw a meme yesterday… can’t find it now.
Joe as Uncle Sam extending his hand and the text says “ Come with me if you want to live.”
That says it all.

What really destroys me is that so many people in this country are so dead inside that they will vote for the rapist traitor.

Thu Jul 4, 2024, 09:54 AM
Jul 2024

This has been going on for awhile. His mic needs better adjustments. And he probably needs to see a speech therapist. He's not speaking from the diaphragm. Maybe he is trying to avoid laryngitis, but he's making the problem worse by using his upper airway instead of his diaphragm. Also by speaking with his upper airway, his speech is a bit slurred and too fast. Unless, he's had other issues affecting his diaphragm (like broken ribs or heart surgery, which he hasn't) it's an easy fix.

And agree on his natural voice is soft. The man does have a speech voice and it did not show up that evening. The speech he gave after the debate voice was fine. 30mins after that farce he sounded normal. The audio signal was filtered to make it sound thin and lite. The input volume was lower than the other 3 mics. Been in audio for 50 years and knew something was foul when the first words came out. His speech in NC he had great voice fire.

His team should have assured that his mic was adjusted for his voice.

I was concerned that his mic would be too soft after seeing a WH press conference where I couldn't hear him. I figured the debate team would get it fixed for him, but they didn't. Total oversight on their part.

Jul 2024

I had to do the “sound checks” pre-digital so it’s my professional opinion and I don’t need a spectrum audio analysis to hear what is wrong.
You are right it can be easy to quantify and you would not need to take my word for it. Get a recording of the debate run an audio analysis on it you just need the beginning because every mic sampled in the first 10mins. Split the audio from the video into any high res file audio file format (WAV or AIFF). I would use Logic Pro with the Waves/UA/Eventide vocal plugs but there are many ways to do the comparison and find the contrast. Digital audio is awesome and provides great data but this is basic and obvious.

Jul 2024

Sure, maybe to you and other audio techs but not to me or, I expect, most others on this forum. "....do the comparison and find the contrast"? I would suggest that, much more realistically, you do that and present the results in a form suitable for someone who is reasonably "tech literate" but not an audio expert. IOWs, how do you distinguish from legitimate muted voice volume and frequency distribution and that added by manipulation of the signal?

Otherwise we are left with speculation and conspiracy theory stuff. Has anyone else (with audio expertise) made a similar claim?

IMO the claim that CNN would resort to such chicanery requires a lot more evidence than we have had presented to us here so far.

Mrs. Ed and I both noticed that Trump's camera was closer, making him fill more of the frame in the split-screen that ran most of the time. He seemed to loom larger than Biden, who by comparison looked small and diminished.

Whether part of a conspiracy or merely due to chance, this contributed to the negative public perception of Biden during the debate.

I am continually shocked that Trump can even be in this race.

Around 20 women accused him of rape or sexual conduct - including when they were minors.

He's been pronounced guilty of at least one rape. (sorry if my count is low, I do have trouble keeping up sometimes)

He literally STOLE classified documents and had them stored in a highly unsecure location.

He fomented an insurrection against the results of the 2020 election. (Anyone want to think about what would have happened if Gore had done similar in 2000? Or Kerry in 2004? Or Clinton in 2016?)

Every other word from his mouth is a lie.

He mocks people with disabilities, right there on stage in front of his fans, not even on a "hot mike" when he thinks no one can hear his shameful utterances.

He is a fucking lying narcissistic bully writ large, and the worst that could be said about the opposing candidate is that he is too old, or someone doesn't fully agree with his policies.

I am so sad for my country.

The only thing that all of Trump's fans have in common is that they hate something or someone.

Funny thing, hate is a choice; that makes them all pro-choice.

It's the normalization and acceptance of a ruling class in the US where laws don't apply to them like everyone else.

53. On Threads, Democrats are overwhelmingly supporting Biden
Thu Jul 4, 2024, 11:21 AM
Jul 2024

I've been on Threads a lot lately (I quit the toxic X a long time ago) and I have to say that pretty much without exception, people are STILL supporting Joe Biden. And pundits, "so-called journalists," and other well-known spouters of opinions are being called out, chastised, and blocked for their anti-Biden rhetoric. People who I used to respect and follow are being challenged and blocked by many, many Democratic voters who aren't buying into this BS and are sick and tired of this narrative being pushed. People like David Corn, John Heillman, Claire McHaskell, Paul Krugman, Tim Miller, and on and on. Even Keith Olbermann, who was on the right side of this until the last couple of days, is pushing for Biden to leave the race, for pity's sake!

And CNN... My God! The few times I tuned in to see what they were saying, I kept seeing people trying to defend Joe to a commentator that looked blankly at them (Anderson Cooper) or glared at them with a openly contemptuous face (Alisyn Aamerota). I'm done with them.

The good news is that we're finding out who the good guys are, and there are quite a few: Lawrence O'Donnell, Joy Reid, Katy Phang, Steven Beschloss, The Lincoln Project, and many more. People like us are coming out in droves to defend Joe Biden and refute people who want Biden out, even these people have no idea what comes next.

If you have a Threads account, go on there and at least take a look around and it will make you feel better to see how many people feel the same way most of us feel. It's been cathartic to post my feelings and opinions to those who have so quickly turned against Biden. I've noticed that there are more trolls there these days (I read an article where there has been a 200% increase in Russian, Chinese, & Iranian trolls on our social media lately), But at least go and take a look. And speak your mind if you're so inclined.

At someone else's suggestion I read the transcript.

It was cogent sauce vs. complete manure.

For the entire media hysteria to focus on President Biden's appearance versus the content of the candidates' answers tells me they will continue to treat this as a reality show, not a presidential election. I thought the point of a debate was to get answers. Stupid me!

66. This is no coincide re: We have just witnessed a muti-faceted propaganda campaign
Thu Jul 4, 2024, 12:35 PM
Jul 2024

The avalanche of shocking headlines about Biden's age was no coincidence—it was a concerted effort to undermine him. The mainstream media (MSM) viewership dropped dramatically when Biden took office. Trump had given them the highest ratings ever with his constant chaos and breaking news, and they want those ratings back! They are eager to cover a Trump revenge tour, which promises not only increased viewership but also the billionaire owners' promised tax cuts. They are selling out the country for pure greed.

THIS IS WHAT'S HAPPENING: PAY ATTENTION!

Biden's debate performance did not elicit the reactions they hoped for. Trump's bullying and barrage of lies did not fool independent voters. He made outrageous claims, like saying the world respected the U.S. on January 6 and that Democrats want to kill babies after birth—he sounded like a madman attacking an honorable man. The next day, an energetic Biden embraced his age and weaknesses: "I do not debate the way I used to, don't walk the way I used to, but I tell the truth..." He gave voters the enthusiasm they needed, and they began rallying around him. The media and Trump campaign took notice. The debate frenzy fizzled out within three days.

Then, the SCOTUS immunity ruling on Monday shocked the country and dominated the news, overshadowing the debate. This decision put the country on the brink of a constitutional crisis, making Biden the only viable choice to preserve democracy—70% disagreed with the ruling. That evening, Biden addressed the country, perhaps the world, with a strong response to SCOTUS immunity ruling (https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/speeches-remarks/2024/07/01/remarks-by-president-biden-on-the-supreme-courts-immunity-ruling/):

"The presidency is the most powerful office in the world. It’s an office that not only tests your judgment, perhaps even more importantly it’s an office that can test your character because you not only face moments where you need the courage to exercise the full power of the presidency, you also face moments where you need the wisdom to respect the limits of the power of the office of the presidency....This nation was founded on the principle that there are no kings in America... No one — no one is above the law, not even the president of the United States...

Nearly four years ago, my predecessor sent a violent mob to the U.S. Capitol to stop the peaceful transfer of power...Now the man who sent that mob to the U.S. Capitol is facing potential criminal conviction for what happened that day. And the American people deserve to have an answer in the courts before the upcoming election...Now, because of today’s decision, that is highly, highly unlikely. It’s a terrible disservice to the people of this nation...the American people have to do what the Court should have been willing to do but would not...The American people must decide if Trump’s embrace of violence to preserve his power is acceptable.

Perhaps most importantly, the American people must decide if they want to entrust the president — once again, the presidency to Donald Trump, now knowing he’ll be even more emboldened to do whatever he pleases whenever he wants to do it...I know I will respect the limits of the presidential power, as I have for three and a half years. But any president, including Donald Trump, will now be free to ignore the law.

I concur with Justice Sotomayor’s dissent today. She — here’s what she said. She said, “In every use of official power, the president is now a king above the law. With fear for our democracy, I dissent,” end of quote.

So should the American people dissent. I dissent.
"

The media didn't want this comparison to take root: "I know I will respect the limits of the presidential power, as I have for three and a half years. But any president, including Donald Trump, will now be free to ignore the law." The choice became clear: trust an honorable old man who respects the rule of law or an old convicted felon with no moral compass who used presidential power to pardon criminals and hide his crimes?

Then, the Jeffrey Epstein transcript was released, implicating Trump in the criminal scene—child rape. This should have been a disastrous week for Trump, causing his campaign to hemorrhage support and raising questions about his viability, not Biden's.

The corporate media desperately shifted the narrative back to the debate, as if it was more important than the historic SCOTUS decision, which had only a two-day shelf life. They completely ignored the Epstein transcripts that incriminated Trump in horrifying detail. Instead, they created shocking headlines about Biden possibly dropping out and Democrats pulling their support. They strategically stirred panic and crisis within the party, forcing the Biden campaign to spend all their time putting out fires, instead of making the case for a Biden re-election given the SCOTUS decision. Scary polls fueled the panic. This was a multi-faceted propaganda campaign to dampen the reaction to the SCOTUS decision and squash the Epstein story. It was an aggressive effort to save Trump, who participated by staying out of sight while they bombarded Biden with lies.

Will it work? It's up to "we the people." The voters, not the media, hold the ultimate power in a democracy. While the media can influence perceptions and narratives, it is the voters who make the final decision. By staying informed, discerning the truth, and participating in the electoral process, voters can ensure that their voices are heard and their choices are reflected in the outcomes.

This has been a long term project by the conservatives. They know that it's "now or never", that this is their last best chance
to transform the United States into the conservative hellscape they've always wanted.
For forty years, they've had their way in their bizarro world economic and political project to tear down everything from the Great Society all the way to the New Deal. Why? Because deep down in places they don't talk about at parties, they despise democracy.

With neoliberal snake oil salesmen like " target="_blank">Milton Friedman, aided and abetted by hack screenwriter and wannabe "philosopher", Ayn Rand and her ilk, they helped to be the front people of millionaire backed think tanks like the Heritage Foundation and put the imprimatur of academic acceptance to their ideology, which when you get down to it, is just dime store economics.

It was a failure in 1981 and it's a failure now. They have depended on the short memory of Americans of how rough their policies were back then:

.

Corporations have grown on the public teat called "tax cuts" and they sure as hell don't want the Biden Administration and the Democrats to take it away. Joe Biden has been the most transformative president in over 40 years; Reagan "transformative".

So, understand that the corporatocracy and economic elite class is in the tank for the Republicans. They are willing to burn down democracy to keep their tax cuts, even if it means electing a failed human being and felon like Donald Trump.

The Power Elite by C.Wright Mills written in 1956 lays out how the wealthy and powerful control and manipulate the system to benefit themselves. They always seem to forget about justice, morality and fairness when pursuing their ends. The sad truth is they are creating a World that will eventually swallow them up as it wages Wars to grab the last pieces of the pie. I think it is a distortion of the survival instinct that turns some into craven selfish pigs who have no vision beyond their own lustful desires. By choosing someone as dysfunctional as Trump they are unwittingly releasing a catalyst that will send the globe into a cataclysmic spiral down. The 1973 MIT computer model, World 3 predicted the end of Humanity by 2040 with the start of the decline in the year 2020. I can hear now the laments "If only we had known" guess what, most of us do, and they don't give a shit. Full steam ahead into the Apocalypse.
