is to believe that they must accentuate every negative story they can find to maintain their relevance. We're seeing that right now with regard to the recent debate. Continually talking about the "crisis" it represents keeps eyes on them, and that's their reason for being. The more viewers the more likely they are to keep their jobs and maybe even get a raise.
It's a totally cynical way of looking at things, but that doesn't matter, since the only thing that matters is the number of viewers.
It's incredibly disappointing to see this happening. The furor will die off soon, and we'll see those same people return to their usual repetitious nonsense, hour after hour and day after day.
People we think are on our side are really only on their own side. Whatever attracts viewers becomes the hot news of the day. Nothing else matters.

(131,241 posts)wasn't news because he always lies about everything; if he'd been coherent and truthful that would have made the news. Biden's poor debate performance was an anomaly, though, so it was news. To report on it was understandable and fair. What's neither understandable nor fair is to take the observation that Biden was off his game during 90 minutes of trying unsuccessfully to defeat Trump at his usual game of Liar's Whack-A-Mole, and turn it into a feeding frenzy related to Biden's age and competence and never shutting the fuck up about it and never even mentioning the fact that his opponent lied his way through the whole thing and never actually answered a question.

(151,562 posts)Biden's demeanor during the debate was unfortunate, even though what he actually said was quite good. Nothing wrong with pointing out that he had a rough time that night. Trump's constant lying is a much more serious thing, but it takes more words to explain than to say Biden did a clumsy job of making his points.
So, the media does what it easy to to and what is more dramatic. Why work hard if you don't have to, eh?

(26,401 posts)the news of the week, etc., in trying to bash our candidate. Nothing has stuck. Because it is just that, embellished news that is beyond what it really is, in trying to smear/downgrade Pres. Biden and uptick tRUMP. Funny thing about Pres. Biden's track record...it's on full display for all to see, in broad daylight, and they can see his record out in the open, in full view.
tRUMP, his record is a repetitive walking, waking disaster for all to see. His 'senior' moments (where he's gutting his nasal cavities w/ all sorts of whatever he blows up his nose) are getting worse, along w/ the age-old dilemma of just getting plain older as a lot of us are. With tRUMP, you can see him purse his lips, barely able to stifle his desire to gasp for breath, etc.

(19,327 posts)Trump is undeniably and obviously mentally unfit to be president, so they have to create the same impression about Biden.
