(1,663 posts)It's a report of something Biden said to the governors. Who knows the context? Of course, if it's true, Biden's team has to play their cards closer to the vest, but I think it's important to note this was not something necessarily put out there by them.

(1,055 posts)slow down a bit, etc. But she never said he was unfit to serve. Biden has said virtually the same thing. That he is no longer a young man, not as smooth a talker, not as good a debater, etc. People understand this. People naturally age. But that doesn't mean they are "senile", "demented", "have alzheimers", and are unfit to make decisions and work with others to accomplish legislation.
Music Man
(1,663 posts)I strongly suspect a bot or troll. He has said:
1. New Hampshire polls don't matter because New Hampshire is a red state.
2. When Eugene Robinson questioned the viability of Biden's campaign, he said he'd never heard of Eugene Robinson and wondered if it was a made-up name.
3. States the exact opposite of what this radio host says and calls it a "gaffe" for Biden.
If not a troll, someone I'd seriously recommend go reading a book or some Wikipedia articles about American politics and history.

(25 posts)What's wrong with going to bed at 8:00?...or at least winding down at that time? I know people, (much younger than the president), who can't wait to get to bed by that time! There was a time, being a young parent, I would have 'killed' to have had that time as bedtime/downtime?...now, if I do go out in the evenings, it better be an emergency or a very special occasion! Rest is good; for everyone! You know what 'They' say about opinions?

(11,202 posts)You want an interview or a meet and greet? Schedule most before 8.
Biden's schedules are posted. SCHEDULED meeting/events shouldn't have to begin before a certain time or after a certain time when they can occur during normal daytime hours. This doesn't mean Biden isn't available 24/7 for an emergency, or won't be seen out and about after 8 pm. It means he was probably working his day job, as President, while fundraising and glad handling, traveling to and from events most evenings.
Trump had lots of personal/executive time scheduled in during his DAYS! Trump also took lots of long weekends (weekday vacation days) at his Clubs to relax (and yes playing golf with a cart is relaxing to many). These off times were during typical working weekdays and hours and while at the time was chalked up to grifting and/or being lazy...might have been to reduce physical or mental fatigue. Presidenting is hard work.
I work part time in a mindless retail job. I learned from coworkers that clopens (working a closing shift followed by an opening shift) is not sustainable. When you factor in commute times for many coworkers (including many in their 20s) I don't know how they can do clopens even occasionally. When I ask, truth is they don't do nearly as well as when rested. They are highly caffeinated and most quit within a year if scheduling nightmares become routine.

(1,055 posts)awake after 8pm. If a NON-CRITICAL event or activity is scheduled BEFORE 8pm but goes beyond that time, of course he would STILL BE UP after that time.
And it is obviously not referring to ALL events. Just NON-CRITICAL events and activities. Debates, State of the Union, etc. would of course be done.
He was probably trying to make a statement about having not gotten enough rest lately with all the travel, many events, such a full schedule, etc. etc. and simply needing more rest in general to avoid colds, being so fatigued, etc. Often people make statements that are missing full details, full context, etc. etc. And this is what is obviously happening here.
The presidential schedule is VERY busy, is enough to exhaust ANYONE, and making sure ANY president gets enough rest is important.
Trump played more golf than ANY president in history, and I understand he didn't report to the Oval Office often until noon. Give me a fucking break.

Campaign statement on this nonsense:
Bush went to bed at 9 & Obama made dinner at 6:30. Normal presidents strike a balance, and so does Biden. Hardly the same rigor as Trump who spends half of his day ranting on Truth Social about plans that would cause a recession and other half golfing
