President Biden is close to negotiating a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, if anyone's interested

Biden speaks with Netanyahu as Israel and Hamas move closer to cease-fire
The talks comes as negotiations had stalled over the last few months between Israel and Hamas.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Joe Biden spoke on the phone Thursday and reviewed a Wednesday response from the Palestinian militant group Hamas to the latest Israeli peace proposal, according to a senior administration official who briefed reporters on condition of anonymity.

The official told reporters that Hamas has moved closer toward accepting a multi-phase ceasefire deal with Israel that over time aims to see hostages released, fighting stopped and rebuilding begin in the territory.

The official acknowledged that the response “does not mean this deal is going to be closed in a period of days,” but added that outstanding issues for a final agreement mostly center on implementation. They also said that the White House believes “there’s a pretty significant opening here.”

...the White House signaled earlier this month that the two sides were closer than ever to reaching a cease-fire deal that would end hostilities in the Gaza Strip and lead to the release of the remaining hostages. On June 26, a senior administration official told reporters that “we’re close to a deal” and that talks were “down to specific paragraphs.”

When a ceasefire is announced, I will just run. No one ask me where. I myself don’t even know.
I will just run, and run.
Maybe to a space in this city, maybe to my old solitude, maybe towards the sun.
I don’t know, the important thing is to arrive at a quiet place: a place that allow me to weep for a long time.

I think he wants the war to continue, and he also wants drumpf back in the white house because he knows drumpf will back a full annexation of Gaza.

As such I wouldn't put it past Bibi to keep promising a cease fire then pulling back to make Biden look bad before the election.

The White House should tread VERY carefully and announce nothing unless it is signed in blood.

Political earthquake in Israel

The two left-wing parties agreed to merge into a new one, meaning the left vote will no longer be split (which got Netanyahu elected in the first place)

Helps guarantee Bibi will lose the next election

=================================

Israel's Labor Party, Left-wing Meretz Merge Into One Party, to Be Called 'The Democrats'

According to the agreement signed by Labor Party chair Yair Golan and Meretz leader Tomer Reznik, this is not a technical merger, but rather the creation of a brand-new party that will operate as a single entity moving forward

"Today we have built a framework that will serve the public as best as possible on the way to promoting elections and replacing the most terrible government since the establishment of the state," Golan said.

Reznik stated that "this union is a double correction - it is also a correction of the past, but it is mainly a correction for the future - because without the union and without the integration of the ideology and ideas of the parties alongside their translation into a significant political force, there will be no correction for Israel. This is the only political body that bravely waves the political, social and civil flag, and Israel must make fateful decisions in these areas."

You mean there's something else going on in the world beyond Biden bashing??? And that 'something' could actually put the end to the violence raging between Israel and Hamas? And that Joe Biden, the object of the daily bashing here in the US, is at the center of facilitating a ceasefire and the release of hostages which everyone's been screaming, begging for?

Maybe we should clue Joe in that he's too old for negotiating a peace or saving lives, that his debate disqualifies him from even trying because certainly there's a younger, more astute, less verbally challenged leader in the wings.

No?

Just another example of our President Joe Biden doing the hard work while refusing to give up even when dealing with less than good-faith actors on either side.

For the common good. Everywhere.
