Todays NY Times has 11 stories about Biden and one about Trump laying low. Ive seen no stories about the many negatives about DJT or the harrowing Project 2025 for weeks, if ever. Its an appalling disservice to this country.

(59,104 posts)CNN, the NYT, the Sinclair network, the WSJ and Turdoch-owned media -- I wish all these propaganda shitrags would burn to the ground, never to rise again from their smoldering wreckage.

(11,780 posts)Start back in the 80s or so with media. Work on the state legislators preaching states rights to crack the door. Start selling some face who is a smooth talker (at least raygun had been governor before), the internet comes along and they figure out what the uneducated masses like to hear, then get the whole rethug party to accept money from Russia, finally install a useful idiot as president who is old and easy to manipulate but talks the way the fools love. Have him load up the Supreme Court with young RWers.. The plan is all coming together.
I could easily see some secret society with matching tattoos but I doubt thats necessary. They know who else is in on it and when they bring someone in they coerce him or her into line.

(55,140 posts)The best thing we can do is throttle up into this GOP generated BS. It is wrong to play this cool, like an aberration. This is the normal as it is being played this year. SCOTUS said so.

(98,883 posts)debate, with their Biden bashing editorials.
There are so many times they have done this to so many Democrats and other issues, from the explotation of the swift boating of Kerry, WMD lying myth, anti-Hillary lying, to this latest over-reaction toward President Biden.
The White House press briefing the other day was disgraceful.

thought the NYT deserved the positive recommendations they got for the last more than half a decade. Especially when you look at the disgraceful "biting their tongue" during the 2016 election about the Orange Ruski and how deep his well known connections with the Russian organized crime goons operating in NY/NJ were but they could run story after story about Hillary and her e-mails and her staff.
The WP is no better and neither one has the guts to really dig into the deep corruption within the NY/NJ FBI that allows the organized crime activity to run wild. I would note that, in my opinion, places like Pro Publica have done much better at investigative journalism over the last many years. There is also the element of snobbery towards the rest of the country that emanates from the NYT and they seem to wear it like something they're proud of.
The general public is not aware how most of the big media news runs. You can have quite often reporters who do an investigative piece but the editors never quite seem to "find room for it". Too hot, too many toes stepped on, too many cocktail parties to want to be invited to etc. and the list goes on. So you get reporters who get "assigned" to write a story on this subject or that or "featured writers" who know the way to play the game and keep making the big salary is to write what the editors want to see and what goes with the desired narrative. So you get the ones who make the big bucks and get to say they work for the NYT and just have to "lend" their name and credibility to what that kind of "journalism" is about.
Meanwhile a reporter who doesn't "play it right" finds their stories don't get published and their continued ability to earn a living will have brighter prospects somewhere else. TV news is even more contrived. People are sent to cover stories chosen by producers etc. and then "star presenters" read the teleprompter of what someone else wrote along with doing a brief chat with a "correspondent/reporter" on the scene.

(13,006 posts)I understand it... those things aren't always "news." They are fundamentally the same terrible things that existed months ago. Newspapers mostly cover what's happening now, only occasionally doing "analysis" pieces on things that have occurred longer ago or over some longer period of time.
It's not like there's been no coverage... for example, google this:
"project 2025" site:nytimes.com
and you'll see they have run a bunch of stories about it. But if nothing about it is new, well, I'm not surprised that newspapers don't keep running stories on the same thing.

(15,425 posts)It won't help because money HAS changed hands and their CEO is a Trump supporter.
Not only that, but the tweet above speaks of 'dereliction of fundamental journalistic reponsibility' but here is the truth.
The NYT is publicly traded so it has NO...................
Let me repeat that......absolutely NO 'journalistic responsibility.'
None. The ONLY fiduciary responsibility of their editors is to generate PROFITS for shareholders, and that's no shit.
And Wall Street be HUNGRY for more tax cuts, and they WANT that Social Security Trust Fund.
