Just listen to Biden answering his questions. Does he think that TCF can even put a simple answer to any of his questions together that make sense or is not a lie?
George is being a real ass here.
I'm more behind Biden now than ever.

(26,014 posts)But since Biden handled it well, I don't think people will feel bad for Biden. I think they will feel positive and not pitying toward him.

(81,266 posts)They can feel bad that Joe is getting treated unfairly, but it is not pity.
People like to see fair play.
And at the same time they can be happy Joe is pushing back, and doing well.
Yes I agree, the net result is positive for Joe.

(26,014 posts)I fear the power that they are exercising over the will of the people more than any concern about Biden's ability.
Here are the headlines from Huffpost. They are so distorted that they must have seen a different interview than I did. The people are behind Biden. The media are openly against him.

(26,014 posts)Gave some good answers, like "I'm not going to answer that George" in response to a stupid hypothetical question about what if Dem leaders Pelosi, Jeffries, etc. sat down with Joe and asked him to drop out.
George asked that question in a very patronizing tone. This was after Biden already said that he's been in touch regularly with those leaders and has their support.
When George tried to claim that the majority of Dem voters want Biden to step down, Biden said, "You don't know what you're talking about, George." Then Biden brought up the grass roots donations and large rally crowds after the debate.
George had some talking heads on after it was over and they pushed a new theme, that Biden listens only to a small circle of yes people and doesn't know how voters "really" feel. That new theme sounded to me like it came right out of a Putin talking point memo, endorsed by Trump.

(5,545 posts)Trump mumbles all the time, and when you can understand his words they often don't make any sense, and when they are actual words and do make sense, the meaning is abhorrent. That is when they aren't just random lies.

(3,835 posts)The President of the US is NEVER waked up at 2:00 AM and told he must make a decision within the next 2 minutes or the world will come to an end.
Before it gets to POTUS, it has been verified, double-checked, allies consulted, courses of action developed and war-gamed.
Interviews are unrealistic because they demand a full PhD dissertation in response, but it's this shit that gave rise to Trump because Clinton, Biden, Obama, and even Republicans need time to think about it, weight their answer, and consider the impact of their words. Trump, on the other hand, does not give a rat's ass about the results of what he says -- he responds instantly with memorized, made up lies and bullshit. And it's working . . . "the media" are comparing a serious leader to a piece of shit . . . and they are pulling for the piece of shit.
Trump has said one of his first actions will be to shut down the "liberal media". I don't know how he thinks he will do that, but, I'm betting the people at Project 2025 have it all worked out. Fuck 'em all -- CNN, Stephanapolous, NYT, WashPost . . . serve them right to be hanged on the National Mall.

(6,630 posts)My advice to the Presidents team is to stop these negative interviews.
dobleremolque
(1,121 posts)the President gives will be negative. The pundits, reporters, network news "stars," have no interest in policy or factual discussion. They are pushing their own narrative to get the answers they want.
People of all stripes who say the President needs to "get out there" and push the real version of himself to overcome the negative residue of the debate performance need to ask themselves what the President's options are to "get out there."
President Biden can "get out there" by doing what he did in Madison, WI today or he can try to "get out there" by doing what he did in the studio with Stephanopoulos. One on one interview are ALWAYS going to dilute and hinder any any benefit of "out there."
I don't know what other choices the Biden campaign has to "get out there," but if I were a campaign advisor, I'd say do more Madisons and fewer studio interviews.
Beck23
(411 posts)Stephanopoulos is part of the Clinton, James Carville crowd. That's the "third way' Clinton who signed NAFTA. Carville has been negative on Biden since at least last fall. I finally had to stop listening to his podcast. This makes me wonder if he asked George S. to do a hit on Biden.
You can think of 'third way' Democrats as Republican lite. I think Republican lite is the real reason Hillary lost in 2016. At least, that's my opinion. I know people who didn't vote for her because of that, not because of the emails.
So you can also think of Carville as Republican lite.

(53,214 posts)blinders on when it comes to other Democratic presidents.
We've seen the same with a lot of the Obama in-crowd. They may be willing to support other Democratic candidates over the years, but no one will ever compare to the president that they worked for. I believe the JFK people felt the same way when it came to LBJ. They belong to a VERY exclusive club.
As for Hillary, I think she would have done better without the influence of campaign advisers from Bill's era. She was a different kind of politician and I think a lot of her consultants served her poorly.

(411 posts)I'll never forget that clip of Hillary clapping adoringly as W Bush lied to Congress saying Iraq got yellow cake (Uranium) from Niger. That was the last straw for many people.
As a result, Joe Wilson went to Niger to investigate and found it was a lie. Then, as punishment, Dick Cheney's team outed Wilson"s wife, Valerie Plame, as a CIA agent ruining her career, and causing a few others to be killed.
PatSeg
(53,214 posts)it is easy to forget how truly awful the Bush administration was. What Cheney did to Joe Wilson and Valerie Plame was unconscionable. How easily such crap gets swept under the rug while so many lives were destroyed because of hubris and greed.

(55,137 posts)That is my policy now. And I even alerted someone on DU which I have NEVER done before. I've had it with all of them and their right wing talking points.
I read comments on You Tube and I can't believe my eyes when every damn one says they are voting for Biden and this media BS is making them cancel subscriptions. Usually there is at least one troll but there were none(and I read over one hundred)! That holds true for most of the pro-Biden videos posted. I take this as a good sign. A lot are people who said that they usually don't get passionate about elections but this one is completely different and voters are going to vote Biden 2024. There is a lot of anger out there.
The greedy media really is blowing it. People are pissed off now more than ever.

Normally my TV volume is at 20%, I couldn't hear Biden and had to go up to 50% to understand what Biden was

Like WTF was that? Was he really expecting Joe to say, "Well if your friends (who may or may not exist) all (no way that is true) want me to drop out then, yeah, you've convinced me, I should drop out now".
Was this some sort of sly way to imply the Clintons have decided Joe should go or something?
