Felon says he will be dictator on day 1. Felon convicted of dozens of felonies, with more to come. Felon is a rapist. Felon cant manage one coherent statement beyond a first grade speaking level and Im being generous there. Felon took away freedom for women to choose what is best for their own health. Felon denigrates and insults service members, Black and Brown humans, Jews and Muslims, Native Americans, and just about every other identity of people on the face of the Earth. Felon has failed at countless business ventures. Felons own party cant stand him. Felon fucking started an INSURRECTION AGAINST THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.
But President Biden is experienced in years.
So we have to vote for Felon. What in the hell has happened to this country? I expect the Felon base to vote for him, but the additional 20-30% that arent his base should be ashamed of themselves and disgust me to no end. If Felon gets elected you are just as responsible for the end of our country and democracy as he is. Shame on you, eternal shame.

(6,265 posts)Washington Journal - open forum (every day starting at 7 AM eastern IIRC). Good grief, I don't know how representative some of the callers are of the American public in general but I sincerely hope they are not. The repugnican and independent callers tend to be the worst, not surprisingly.
"Of course the election was rigged - everybody knows that"
"President Trump tries so hard but everyone attacks him - he is the only one who cares about us"
"The Democrats are socialist scum and the ruination of this country"
"They used Corexit on the oil well blowout and that is causing the glaciers in Greenland to melt"

(58,625 posts)They STILL would vote for him. They're hopeless.
However, the good news is, as evidenced in 2020, they are still the MINORITY.
So Democrats who are calling for Joe to drop out: SHUT THE FUCK UP and get behind our candidate, and we will beat him in 2024 just like we did in 2020 and be spared the unimaginable prospect of another 4 years of disaster.

(7,588 posts)That's my guess. In 2016 they chose a president who thought there were airports in the 18th century, that thought you could cure diseases by injecting bleach, that had absolutely no expertise or knowledge of anything and a real college still gave him a degree.
I am not surprised.

(26,146 posts)And the only thing that tRUMP is offering, as usual, is the usual crackpot assortment of new unpaid for tax cuts. Nothing else, other than perhaps the toxic mess that is the 2025 document, which is a blueprint for dictatorship, plain and simple. No wonder tons of republicans have been fleeing the tRUMP party which has supposedly taken over the repugs, although I daresay that the republican party of old is still out there, trying to survive despite tRUMP's garbage mouth, and are actively campaigning against tRUMP and his minions via the Lincoln Project, as well as other things.
Things in reality aren't looking so good for tRUMP IMHO. Of course, the polls they scream and yell about, are doctored and as such, aren't worth the paper or ink they're written w/. Otherwise, why the discrepancies that popped up, stating that polling numbers would be great for their party (the republicans) when they barely held onto a majority (and I think that they've lost this, or are pretty close to losing it).
I got a feeling that the republican owners/pollsters are ignoring the vast majority of a valid polling sample, in order to paint a far rosier picture of the moron's chances, thus they are vastly deceiving themselves, which is fine by me.
Let them believe the lies published by their own papers, their repug owners of the media that are actively distorting the news to paint a better picture of their losing candidate. It's a losing cause, since they are covering up a vast trove of lies (covered by yet more lies) and eventually it all comes back to bite these idiots on the proverbial ass (pardon language).

(2,555 posts)They all show a horse race, 46-43 percent, 47-44 percent, numbers like that. I keep thinking, this race shouldn't even be a race at all. It should be 80-20 percent. And even if it were, I would wonder about that 20 percent who say they're voting for the orange con man, WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH THEM? HOW CAN THEY BE SO STUPID? I am mystified that it's even close.

(17,467 posts)Even in a parking lot of a strip mall where a driver was coming into a row I was leaving and she was right down the middle of the entrance to my lane. I was backing out and heading her way and she's waving me on as if to say, "Come on. I want your spot." But she was blocking the entire entrance/exit of the row. I don't know if she thought I could fly my car over hers, but I just sat there waiting to see what she was going to do. She eventually started backing out of the lane, without looking behind her to see if there was a car behind her which there was. So she slammed on the brakes. I just shook my head.
And that's just one episode from this past week. They are everywhere.

(10,270 posts)Not something Im used to. I sort of got it. When you get all your information from bumper stickers, and the people who look like you all have Trump stickers on their trucks, you go with the flow. Or you become a social pariah, or worse, a victim of physical violence. Peer pressure at its finest.
And they like being part of the tribe. It gives them something to be.
Im talking about rural Oregon here, maybe its different elsewhere.

(4,050 posts)of the debate, so I send them lists of Biden's accomplishments, the buffoon's awful record, some of the crap the buffoon spews on a daily basis, remind them that the buffoon is an indicted criminal, a rapist, and wants to take the USA into Putin country.
So I always ask them if they would be happy to live in a dictatorship, eating from the garbage like people in countries like Venezuela, and that makes them think.
I won't say "don't worry" because I myself worry about voter stupidity, but in my heart I am convinced that Biden is going to win with a much higher margin than in 2020. The thing that makes us nervous is that we Democrats are not yelling like the MAGAts, so we are not out there dressing like a carnival USA flag spewing crap to anyone who passes by, instead we remain quiet, we know what is happening and we know we are voting for the right guy and the right woman. Sooo...worry, but don't worry

(334 posts)Consider what your chances would be of getting a job if you were a convicted felon; slim to none. You might if lucky get a job cleaning public bathrooms, if heavily supervised. No convicted felon would be able to get, say, a teaching job. Yet Trump with 34 convictions encounters no problem in running for the highest office in the land, one in which he failed miserably for four long years. His doltish supporters blow off the convictions saying that the trial was a "witch hunt," "rigged," and politically motivated. There obviously need to be ironclad safeguards in the system to ensure that no one with Trump's history could ever run for any political office again...

Logic and common sense, unfortunately, play no role here.

(14,350 posts)Most of them have pretty dismal lives from both an economic and personal perspective. They find camaraderie with others who are in similar situations so they seek others to blame. Those recipients of the blame are the people they see in their everyday lives and not the true hidden enemies which are predominantly white, ultra-wealthy and completely out of their view. Think of it as a see no evil, speak no evil sort of situation. Their lack of critical thinking skills blinds them to reality so they cling to the comfort of group think and hate speech that reinforces their priors, which again are based solely on what they can see.

(10,814 posts)Ignorant people - Mostly apathetic about politics and government. They go vote once every 4 years, sometimes, for whoever has an R by their name because their parents did or to keep from losing their guns or some other such nonsensical reason. They are so ignorant they probably would fail a basic citizenship test. They would much rather play video games and watch Netflix movies with their spare time.
Stupid people - Fox News watchers who live in Fox alternative world.
Greedy people -Mostly rich people who only care about themselves and vote for tax breaks for themselves.
Hateful people - People who are worried they will be replaced.
There are so many. 75 million last election. All you can hope is to get through to some of the ignorant people, the rest of them are a completely lost cause. Cant fix stupid, greed, or hate.
