(3,347 posts)Geez. I knew this would happen. Me sort of defending the worst of possible knews.
Ill give it a bit of time until the post is knocked down. At this poi almost welcome that.

(12,412 posts)remember 3 words cognitive tests that take a minute or two would not allow a doctor to rule out any neurological condition.
Hell, trump passed one of those supposedly.
In any event, why say you've never had one when you did.
Think. Again.
(22,456 posts)Cognitive tests deal with how the physical brain processes non-physical information, otherwise referred to as the mind.
They are two different areas of study and President Biden fully understands the difference and responded appropriately.
Just because his appropriate response isn't understood by others (yourself), that does not indicate a deficiency in HIS cognitive abilites.

(100,133 posts)Last night I read someone in the media was saying Joes WH doctor was some no-name in the shadows that nobody had ever heard of.
So which is it? Advisors who dont have godlike powers of recall, or what?

(17,802 posts)You can be sure he gets a battery of medical tests, including brain scans.
But those aren't cognitive tests. And he is correct, he doesn't need one.
The one they gave to the orange plantstand is only given to patients they are evaluating for confined care; people who are unable to live independently.
It would not pick up normal aging.

I think these ridiculous rumors that Joe Biden has Parkinsons disease because somebody on his staff met with a parkinson specialist are because of a misunderstanding and ignorance of the fact that the Biden admin had been working hard on getting this bill into law.

(26,931 posts)As he should. I wish Democrats, especially, would stop reading into news reports like FOX does..everything has a negative connotation. We cannot fall into the trap that the GOP has set in the past and that is..defeat ourselves. Very disheartening to read some of these posts here

Did a Physician Confirm Hillary Clinton Has Parkinson's Disease?
A montage of photos and video clips of Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton purportedly demonstrates she has symptoms of Parkinson's disease.

Obviously she is alive and well to this day, so she wasn't near death in 2016.

(25,725 posts)I think it's because of the quote unquote "his diagnosis" but that said Parkinson's is predominantly a physical issue not a mental issue.
It's pretty awful but it does not attack people's brains.
It sounds like you explain to your friend that you would crawl through glass for Biden.
I wouldn't consider that troll behavior like some have been insinuating.
LisaL
(47,423 posts)It's not just a "physical issue." But that is neither here nor there, because Biden doesn't have it.
JanMichael
(25,725 posts)Yes it does impact the brain but it varies greatly between people. It's a weird one for sure. Certainly better than dementia. Better being wholly subjective.

New Study Finds That Eating Ice Cream For Breakfast Improves Your Brain Power
http://www.sickchirpse.com/new-study-finds-that-eating-ice-cream-for-breakfast-improves-your-brain-power/
The study was conducted in Japan by Professor Yoshihiko Koga at Tokyos Kyorin University. Koga asked his sample set of volunteers who were no doubt eager to participate in one of the most awesome clinical trials of all time to eat ice cream as soon as they woke up and compared their brain characteristics with those who didnt eat ice cream.
The results were plain to see. The subjects brains exhibited an increase in high-frequency alpha waves these are associated with enhanced alertness and reduced mental irritation. They were also required to perform a series of exercises using a PC, and those that had eaten ice cream displayed faster reaction times and superior information processing capabilities.
And this from the Doctoral exam at the Princeton Institute for Advanced Study

Drumpf would fail it.

(132,446 posts)death because her Parkinson's did not respond to any treatment, conventional or otherwise (including an extremely risky, experimental brain surgery). She could no longer garden (she was a master gardener), nor could she paint (she was an amazing landscape artist), and she just wanted to die.
So, when I see a long-distance, non-professional, evidence-free, "diagnosis" , remembering my friend, I get a little upset.
