Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) said on Sunday both President Biden and former President Trump should be willing to take cognitive tests as candidates for the White House this November.
Look, Id be happy if both the President and Donald Trump took cognitive tests, Schiff told NBC Newss Kristen Welker on Meet the Press when asked whether Biden should take a cognitive test.
I think they both should be willing to take a test, Schiff added when pressed again on whether Biden should take one. I think, frankly, a test would show Donald Trump has a serious illness of one kind or another.
Schiffs interview comes amid pressure on Biden to prove he is still up for the task of president after a difficult debate that has prompted calls in the party for him to consider stepping aside at the top of the ticket.

(11,237 posts)For them to have reported that he didn't have Parkinson's, they had to have done some basic neurological tests. I'd guess he also got the standard cognition tests, including the man, person, camera test that the convicted felon likes to brag about aceing.

(33,424 posts)Since winning the White House, Biden has continued to dismiss the need for a cognitive exam, and aides have said he has never taken one as president not in three annual physical exams, and not in the week since a halting debate performance raised more urgent questions about the now-81-year-olds mental acuity.
That decision has been overseen by a key figure largely unknown to the public: Kevin OConnor, the physician to the president, who has grown extraordinarily close to Biden since becoming his personal doctor in 2009. A White House official said OConnor has never recommended that Biden take a cognitive test.

(10,833 posts)Better yet, Biden should just say he has already taken a cognitive test and "aced" it, even correctly identifying zoo animals just like Trump. And since no one questions Trump's pronouncements of passing a cognitive test, how could they challenge Biden's?

(33,424 posts)Biden relies on a little-known White House doctor who has never ordered a cognitive test for the president

I think it's a winning strategy ... redirect anything negative directed at Biden to both candidates.
"take a cognitive test?" Will Trump?
"sit for off the cuff interview?" Will Trump?
"Is he too old?" Is Trump?"
"drop out of the race?" Will Trump?
etc, etc., etc. until they stop asking.
Biden risks nothing on the challenges because Trump would never agree.

(1,824 posts)But saying a cognitive test is necessary only plays into the narrative.
