French election results good for France; not necessarily for Macron.

Yes, the nationalist right has been blocked and won't be able to form a Governing coalition. But Macron will have to deal with the polices of a more left-wing bloc than his Party represents.

France's allied left seeks lower retirement age, wealth tax on rich

PARIS, June 14 (Reuters) - France's leftwing parties want to lower the retirement age, link salaries to inflation and introduce a wealth tax for the rich, leaders of a newly agreed alliance that spans from the hard left to the Socialists and Greens said on Friday.

The parties set aside differences to strike a deal late on Thursday ahead of a parliamentary election that President Emmanuel Macron unexpectedly called for June 30 and July 7 after his centrist party suffered a bruising defeat in Sunday's European Parliament elections.

I wonder if France has basically the same income vs. wealth taxation issue we have here?

I’m not sure linking salaries to inflation is such a great idea, fair as it sounds. It would be hard to do that in a way that didn’t generate an inflationary spiral.
