(915 posts)Mint has been amazing to me so far though.
Never had so much phone service for so little money before.
Hope it doesn't get fucked up now

Apple market cap: $3.47 trillion
I got an iPhone a couple years ago and I hate it.
Next time I need a new phone I'm looking for an android or
maybe I'll just see what there is for flip phones then.
My gaming laptop cost less than some iPhones I've seen out there

Most companies grow largely through acquisition. Too often of competitors.

(7,309 posts)As long as they treat their employees well and pay their fair share of taxes. I don't begrudge the rich, just their impunity.

(3,581 posts)The government giving them money is ridiculous. On top of that, Walmart for example, doesnt pay enough to live on so they have classes to inform their employees how to collect benefits from the government. It should be coming out of Walmarts profits.

(7,309 posts)Exactly.

(3,581 posts)Take personhood from corporations and make them actually liable for what they do. The fines to regular folks seems like a lot. But, the reality is it is mere pennies to corporations. They need to be charged with fraud for selling things that dont do what they say. Ford needs to be got. Bought a Ford Escape hybrid, within a year over 11 recalls that they didnt want to fix. Then the last one was a doosy, sudden catastrophic engine failure. They should be forced to refund everyone who bought their pile of trash.
These companies need busted up just like MaBell. To large to fail. Let them, it will make room for some one who can. That is the way free trade and capitalism is supposed to work.

(12,678 posts)Basically, I can't shop anywhere nor consume any service.

(915 posts)But I'm doing what I can.
Cancelled my Amazon Prime. I hardly bought enough there to make it worthwhile.
I took a free trial to watch a show and forgot about it, but I finally remembered.
And then even as a Prime member I could not watch the next season without signing up for some separate service.
Baloney.
Bullshit.
Malarkey.
I won't get on Spotify: vile leeches they are.
Meta: after I deactivated my facebook several weeks ago I'm fixing to go through and delete it for good soon.
I drive a 2010 Toyota Yaris closing in on 300K miles. I paid $2K for it in 2020. It needed a new clutch.
I hope it's the last car I ever need to buy and I wouldn''t put it past it to last that long if I take care of it.
No Coke. No Pepsi. No soft drinks. No bullshit overpriced empty calories save a couple of comfort snacks once in a while.

I work on campaigns so I can elect Democrats too. Need my tech tools to reach voters.

(915 posts)consider: in my experience on DU, I've seen a lot more people buying new cars than used.
That's only my experience, but maybe it says something.
Never bought a new car in my life.
I've owned two cars in the last two decades,
and I still see my previous - under its new owner - drive by once in a while.
I could still be driving it but my step-mother decided it had gotten too rusty,
and that they should help me out with affording a less old one.
An offer I could not refuse.
I'm hoping my current car will be the last I'll have to buy,
and I wouldn't put it past it if I take good care of it.
Basically a lifetime of driving with a minimal impact on the demand for cars.
Less money to the rich.
Less waste.
