Please Beware: Lots of people are driving reading their cell phones & not paying attention to the road.
We need to be totally aware of these people. They cause accidents and are in accidents.
If someone is on a phone or reading a computer phone or texting or looking at a text message......just stay away from
that car....The driver is driving as if he/she wants an accident.
JUST STAY AS FAR FROM THAT CAR AS YOU CAN, SO YOU WON'T HAVE AN ACCIDENT WITH THAT FOOLISH PERSON
I have seen many people do this, and this is VERY VERY DANGEROUS.
...................DRIVING A CAR TAKES FULL CONCERTRATION ALL THE TIME......LOTS OF THINGS HAPPEN WHEN YOU ARE
...................DRIVING A CAR...PAY ATTENTION TO THE VIEW AHEAD OF YOU, ON YOUR SIDES, AND BEHIND YOU...........
...................NOT YOUR CELL PHONE....NOT WHILE DRIVING AT ANY TIME...IF YOU NEED TO MAKE AN IMPORTANT CALL,
...................JUST PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, AND THEN YOU CAN MAKE THE CALL SAFELY..

(15,824 posts)It gets their attention for a moment.
They are endangering everyone around them, even if they don't realize it. If they realize it and do it anyway, they're an asshole and deserve repeated honks. And a hefty fine.

(130,533 posts)You can use your cell phone to make calls, text, listen to music or podcasts and get directions, but only by voice commands or single-touch activation without holding the phone. You can't hold your phone in your hand or use your phone for video calling, video live-streaming, looking at video or photos stored on the phone, using non-navigation apps, reading texts and scrolling or typing on the phone. Not that anybody pays any attention to this, but if you have an accident or get busted for some other traffic offense they can fine you for this, too.

(732 posts)people driving along with their phone in front of them on the steering wheel. It makes me so mad I want to roll the window down and throw my beer at 'em!!
Seriously though, it's unbelievable how many are doing it.

If I see someone driving erratic and theyre on their phone I tend to pass them up just in case theyre in a wreck theyll be behind me and not ahead of me which could involve me in their carnage.

(66,280 posts)As reflected by the OP, lots of distracted folks out there. Best to have evidence of any accident you may find yourselves in. People at fault in an accident will often lie to the police, which may get backed up by their passengers. Or, they may just take off.
If you don't believe me, head on over to YouTube and check out the many channels devoted to car crash videos.
A decent dashcam can be had for well under $100. Forward facing cams are very easy to install and operate, no tools required.

(20,769 posts)Many folk pull up in inappropriate, sometimes dangerous places to take a phone call; on bends, not completely off the road, blocking visibility. I hope the call was worth it.

(8,877 posts)One major 2 or 3 car incidents with complete roll overs and total destruction nearly every other day. The helicopter air ambulance is busy taking people to trauma centers in Tucson as our local just doesn't have the staff nor equipment for the amount of vehicular mayhem going on here. So many flights, I don't see how they have time for required maintenance on their bird.
Red light running is the least of our problems here recently, and that is a really big problem here. And it's not just 'load cars' driven by inexperienced teens hired online to run people to Phoenix, doing 120 MPH car chases with the county mounties and local city PD that are killing people. It's fucking insane around here. Too many of the locals seem to be of the opinion that 100-120 is the speed limit too.
Oh, and we have a state senator who wants a law that says cops can't issue a speeding ticket unless someone is doing at least 20 MPH OVER the posted speed limit, even in towns and in residential areas. He's the same asshole who managed to get the GOP majority state legislature make it legal to sell/buy/use fireworks in wildfire prone Arizona a few years ago. Guess what one of his side hussles is ... if you guessed that he pretty much has the fireworks business monopoly in this area, you win a prize.

Makes it hard to take the laws on the matter very seriously.
