Not only did they instruct Trump's camp to disavow knowledge or approval of Project 2025, they are now trying to disarm the issue that has curried greatest opposition over the last few years, the Dobbs decision. They are telling media that they will change a platform plank seeking a national abortion ban.

Also notable that they aren't making the mistake they made in 2020 by not publicizing any platform at all.
Of course, this is all kabuki. Trump does know what Project 2025 is, just as the plan mentions him repeatedly in its pages. And the national abortion ban can always be acted upon after the election. It would be in character.

(22,456 posts)...they just gave it a cutesy name, Project 2025.
They even clearly refer to it as the "Presidential Transition Project"
Here's their list of campaign platform items...

(22,456 posts)That does away with all the arguing and gaslighting from them!
When they start talking about how good they think trump would be as President, just hand them a card, smile nicely, and walk away.
Or even if someone claims they're "undecided", just hand them a card, smile nicely, and walk away.

(17,664 posts)Libraries have public areas where you can place things. I've even seen restrooms where the evangelical fanatics like to put all their jesus proselytizing. Take a page out of the Jehovah Witnesses playbook. If you live in an apartment complex put them in the mailroom. You get my drift.

They see it as a betrayal. And besides, they already won states deciding for themselves. That gets them nothing.
They want everything, now, and they want everyone to know they can force it.
Please proceed.

(9,912 posts)Roe v Wade into federal law of the land.
That should terrify them cause they know the majority of voters want that freedom back, even in deep red Kansas.

(23,673 posts)The GOP is synonymous with abortion bans at this point. It was their corrupt SCOTUS who overturned Roe v Wade, and Trump who put three of those justices on the court. How much video is out there of Trump boasting about overturning Roe? (Answer: A lot.)
The GOP knows theyre in trouble with this issue, but backing off might do more damage to their own support. If theyre big going to pretend like abortion is no longer an issue for them, surely they risk turning off a LOT of fundamentalist single-issue voters.
