General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI could be very wrong about this but from what I've been observing
it seems that President Biden's biggest defenders are people of color, such as Hakeem Jeffries, Jasmine Crockett, AOC, Whoopi Goldberg, while those that have been pushing him the hardest to step down are affluent white men, such as Jon Stewart, Rob Reiner, Stephen King, James Carville and a guy from Virginia. Now this is not true in every case in that there are many white people like Bernie Sanders who've spoken out in support of the President, but there does seem to be a pattern.
Again I could be totally wrong about this and it could just be my imagination.

(6,927 posts)It seems to me that people of color, and especially Black women voters, have been busy saving the nation for decades. If we follow them and support them, maybe they'll save us once again.

(19,704 posts)Those affluent white men would all benefit from further tax cuts from that orange man too.
Plus, if things get bad here, they can all go almost anywhere in the world to live, because if you have money, just about any country will take you. They will never have to face the consequences of a second trump term in any real way.

(23,953 posts)While the white men in question are usually considered allies, they may subconsciously be pushing against the visible smash the white patriarchy trend. They desperately want to continue to be seen as thought leaders and Oh Wise Ones and to be adored
by someone.
I understand that those who work for Big Media are likely influenced by their networks narrative but Olbermann and Stephen King, for example, dont have that constraint.
So, idk. Its very, very disappointing though.

(7,366 posts)Axelrod has been anti- Biden 2nd term for years and immediately came out against him re debate.
Most are men but Claire McCaskill was an immediate alarmist re debate.
I think the failure of both these paid commentators to act in a disciplined fashion was very damaging.

(7,648 posts)but back in 2008 a friend involved in the Obama campaign told me that Axelrod wanted Evan Bayh for VP and was vehemently opposed to Obama picking Biden. Again this was second or third hand so I confirm how accurate it is.

(29,634 posts)His sole connection to the Democratic party is Obama, who would have been elected if his campaign had been run by a Muppet. Axelrod's sniffing disdain for Hillary Clinton put him on my s**t list years ago.
Axelrod (wrongly, IMO) thinks of himself as a kingmaker. Huey Long he is not.

I think jealous is showing it's ugly face.
Plus Biden is reflecting the needs of the people. Obama was and I believe still is a neoliberal trained at Harvard Law school.

There are a handful of Republicans who don't want trump to be their nominee, but why aren't their voices being amplified by the media?

(6,122 posts)Every time I turn on the TV or look online, another Big Wig Dem comes out against Biden. What are they doing? Just seeing how long they can drag out the pile on? I am way beyond disgusted with these whiners and cry babies. Where is their loyalty? Their dedication to party and principle? All they know is someone, somewhere decided we must kick Joe to the curb. No chance for redemption or taking a few deep breaths to think everything through. Pros and cons.
I dont care if god almighty descends from the clouds, if Biden feels he is up to the job and keeps performing like I saw on TV with my own eyes in Raleigh, Ill vote for the Democratic ticket. These Dems who are like rats fleeing a sinking ship are disgusting. And THEIR opinions mean squat to me.
