Last week I told myself the attack needed to be beat back by this midweek

There has been some success in that effort.

But because this went on and on, the bashing is slowly depressing Biden support. In any other year, the conversation would be about this being a close election year. But this year it's about ignoring the worst, most dangerous candidate who is a wannbe dictator ready to facilitate a second revolution by the rightwing pundit class. And the alternate 'gotcha' stories are about whacked out medical interpretations by media and frightened democratic candidates. That has become a bashing of the democrat because he 'appeared to be suffering chronic age-related degeneration' when he was actually, suffering acute symptoms from a common illness.

That bashing has by some interpretation eroded Biden's position in the polling by a couple percent. In any other year this would be overlooked as a consequence of the polling vicissitudes in a close election. But it's not just any other year, and the minimum impact is being interpreted as a harbinger of collapse of support for Biden. And it goes on.

And as Hitler's propaganda arm well knew, if a story, essentially a lie, gets repeated long enough and loud enough it spreads as and is assumed to be strong enough to function in the place of truth. And I regret feeling that things are reaching that point. All the defense offered, including quite competent presidential performance by Biden, hasn't placed the story in the rearview mirror.

With the RNC now days rather than weeks away, the MAGA propagandists will find more and more receptive ears among the media. Rather than exposing the unAmerican extremism of Project 2025, they are likely to continue on the path of misinterpretations of Biden's locomotor agility (short stepping, limited arm swing), and impromptu speech (being flooded by thoughts & ideas amidst an answer) that has been overlooked if not forgiven in previous presidents.

I'm not suggesting caving in. In the past week, BIden has looked competent, despite hostile interpretations. And we need to move from merely defending Biden, to a serious campaign against the radical often secular authoritarianism pressed on us by the GOP.

I am suggesting that everyone's consideration of Trump and the GOP love affair with cultural revolution needs to become openly hostile, and we need to be much more assertive in presenting the case of the clear and present danger. In the hybrid war of modern politics, we need to swamp the media messaging and build crowds of dissenting protestors projecting perhaps the most important alternate narrative since 1858. The GOP is out in the open about completing the final acts of the culture war, which intends to destroy the federal system as functioning government and establishing one-party, right-wing, authoritarian control of the nation in its place.

Which way things will turn will depend on how Biden does in responding to the bloodthirsty mob.

to making that turn.

This isn't a knock on Biden.

It's rather that his/our opponents/enemies are motivated otherwise.

3. I meant the turning point for those in the party who aren't yet convinced Biden is up for the job. Nt

I suspect many such people are turtle-ing. Keeping their heads under cover until something obvious emerges.

I can usually come up with at least a few hypothetical end points to what is apparently a concerted effort… This episode, I’ve got nothing.

I do know why I have nothing, however.

It centers on the fact that with all of these calls (coming just as the primaries ended, with President Biden walking away with a mandate and the Democratic turnout almost doubling that of the Trumpublicans in many instances) there is no clear replacement and none is usually given.

They are generally dismissive of VP Harris stepping to the top of the ticket.

Who is this superhuman who’s going to step in at the zeroth hour?

Sure, they may be trying to push Trump out of the headlines, but for God’s sake choose something that leaves less of a mark.

Also, I suppose, they could be trying to smoke out the plants like the two Senators who crept in for 2020 and basically derailed the proceedings until the mid-terms.

Neither of those seems plausible.

So, we’re left blaming a trolling press. Frustrated by losing their influence as king makers. Which, they ceded years ago by being so biased that they became irrelevant.

6. Well, I think the PTB of the DNC have a good idea of who it would be....

Possible because that person and their camp of supporters don't want to come out ahead of Biden formally making his own exit. That would like cutting down an incumbent. That is still a sin in the DNC.

Of course, it should be clear that "making his own exit" is noe pretty much impossible as anyone paying attention sees that he is being heavily leaned upon by some unidentified significant influencer(s) of the Democratic Party with influence in the national media.

I have looked at those who are making the call for Biden's exit. And I have looked to find out what 'camp' it is that could be home to this effort. IMO it does involves a majority of people who come from a similar branch of the democratic party "tree", but, of course, it isn't only limited to that pedigree. One might say that the fox is hiding among the tall grass or one might say that there is some variety in the people have doubts about BIden. Certainly the members of the House who must be re-elected to stay relevant have fear about the top of the ticket not carrying them over the finish line as winners.

I have a favorite group of suspects, they are politicos, and former politicos now in the media or acting as advisor/consultants in the privately funded punditry. But as that group is based on nothing more informed but circumstantial conjecture, I'm not going to cause a storm on DU by giving names or naming a likely replacement.

I'm pretty sure that people who take the time to look can certainly find similarities as I did by tracking personal histories of the players as it appears on the internet.
