anyone see morning joe ....
when Pelosi was asked if she supported Joe staying in ....
she would not say that She supported Joe......she just repeated several
times......it's up to Joe Biden to say whether he is staying or not....
so then MJ(think it was Lamere) said.....Joe Biden stated that he was staying in the race.....
and she would not change her answer ......she said it was up to JOE to
decide and people should give him room to decide....
She totally deflected on Lamere's question and kept repeating Joe needs
to decide if he wants to step down or stay
after that interview was done, they put up a poll saying that Trump was winning....
I thought that maybe this had passed after the great performance
at the Nato summit ......
but now , with Pelosi's comments....not so sure......
....wasn't sure how to
read it....but it did not give me a warm and fuzzy feeling

(21,427 posts)But yesterday with those three Senators expressing doubt that Biden can win and now this? Yikes.

(743 posts)To be able to walk into the White House without much of a fight, I am paranoid that the Repubs may also keep Congress and grab the Senate too..
Maybe Bennett was right?
There seems to be a lot of divide in our party, and not sure Schmur and Jeffries are the ones to fix it.

(26,361 posts)Are there people - that before his bad debate performance - would have voted for him - so now they have switched their vote to Tr**p?
Or did they decide that if Joe still runs - they just won't vote at all?
DemocratInPa
(743 posts)Dems are going to stay home or not vote?
I can't see any Dem switching to Trump. Only way maybe out of fear.

(743 posts)We saw a lot of violence in 2020.. Even leading up to the election, they were targeting democrat voters.

(26,361 posts)Joe's? Tr**p's?
What does that have to do with any Dem - that before the debate - would have voted for Joe - to make them not want to vote for Joe now - because he's old - or want to switch their vote to Tr**p?
Your just making crap up now.
This is where this all breaks down.
If I'm going to vote for Joe. If Joe stays in the race - I'm going to still vote for Joe.
If Joe drops out and they replace Joe with another Dem - I'm going to vote for that Dem. As a Dem - I would vote for that Dem on the ticket - Joe or some other Dem.
Cause as I think you are saying - Tr**p's supporters are crazy - as crazy as Tr**p.
There would be no way - I'd vote for Tr**p instead - or sit out the vote.
So bottom line - I don't believe the polls - that Tr**p is ahead now - because Joe had a bad debate performance or because he's old.
If I'm a Dem - I'm going to vote Dem - no matter what.
So what say you about that?
DemocratInPa
(743 posts)trump supporters are crazy.. Do you not remember how some were targeting Democrats with Biden signs 2020?
Did you not see what went on in Nashville this past week.. Some people who are Dems living in deep red areas could change their vote out of fear. Its not out of the possibilities.

(26,361 posts)Tr**p's crazy supporters? OR Because Joe had a bad debate and is old?
I'm just saying I'm not going to change my vote and go ahead and vote for Tr**p and his crazy supporters. That would be the last thing I would do - because I don't want my country run by a criminal that has crazy supporters.
I'm still going to vote for Joe or whatever Dem would replace him - because the alternative is much, much worse.
I'm not dense. I just don't see polls changing and Tr**p winning because of Joe's age or bad debate performance. I'm going to still vote Dem - no matter what.
I'm just not going to get influenced by a corporate media - that is telling me that Tr**p is winning because of a bad performance by Joe in the debate or because Joe's old.
It's built in. We have a buffer. We have a qualified Dem VP ready to step in - no matter if Joe goes full dementia or dies. Or if Joe steps down - vote for whichever Dem they replace him with.
At all costs - I want a Dem in the WH and not Tr**p.
I'm not going to change my vote because of some stupid poll that some corporate news hack is pushing.
Don't you see what this is doing to you?
If you're scared of Tr**p's crazy supporters - don't go ahead and vote for Tr**p.

(743 posts)VIOLENCE..
Violence happened to Democrats in 2020, it can and probably will happen again.. Especially in deep red areas.
This has nothing to do with Biden or his debate, this has to do with fear of crazy Trump people.

(743 posts)I am well protected, but I can see how some old lady or some guy who is 80-90 might be..
We had a guy who house was burnt in 2020 cause he had a Biden sign in his front lawn, locally a Josh Shapiro sign was shot up in 2022.

The real damage (my guess) is not a significant shift so much as a calcification of existing weakness that will be hard to recover.

(38,799 posts)have thought Trump is going to win for months. Rather than age I blame inflation, that seems to be everyone's
main gripe Democrat or Republican. I know Biden doesn't set prices, but the president always gets the blame. Whoever
ends up as our candidate they are going to face the same obstacle. Since after the first few months Biden's approval ratings have been under water and we keep hearing it is early, the polls are meaningless. Folks it is no longer early. The longer
the media and Democrats keep up the dropping Biden thing going the worse our chances are. Even Nancy Pelosi
seems to be wavering. Morning Joe has been naming nonstop every Democrat they can find that wants Biden to drop out this morning

(743 posts)I think it sucks thus far.. We need to be hammering Triump on everything.. There was a post about them wanting Military to pay for their own benefits and they will take away VA benefits.. This needs hammered. I am not sure why these things aren't being addressed.
In PA, all I see are Mccormick and Trump advertisements, but I continue to hear how Biden and even Casey are raising record donations.

(38,799 posts)attempted coup tapes. The recent Epstein pedophile accusations. Talking about record oil production.
Project 2025. Trump saying he will cut SS and Medicare. All I have heard in the last couple weeks is a handful of
Democrats that want Biden to drop out. Rumors started about the whereabouts of Trump the last couple weeks, all
he has to do is play golf and let Democrats self-destruct.

(26,361 posts)For the life of me I can't figure out how Tr**p has so much veteran and military support - given how he feels about the military. I have friends that are in the VFW or American Legion Posts - and they are all Tr**p supporters. I can't figure out why?
Especially now when we hear Project 2025 wanting the Military to pay for their own benefits and take away VA benefits. Makes no sense to me.
They need to get it hammered into them that Tr**p and the Repugs are not their friends.
Yes - we need to get the word out on this.
Not a lot of sense is being made at this time for this upcoming election. Seems we've lost our collective minds.

(10,722 posts)They won't commit until Joe proves that he didn't drool on his tie or pee his pants during the press conference because that would make them look like fools for having supported him.
I think it's totally unfair and ridiculous but pols seem to have a different kind of logic than us mortals.

(35,004 posts)Honestly, when the CBC weighed in. I was done and fully on board. I feel like everyone should have closed ranks at that point, but for whatever reason, we're still discussing this issue and it's disastrous for us. The only way replacing Biden works is if KH is put in his place. But the ones who want to replace him are talking about a mini primary which would be terrible. Rightwing trolls pretending to be on the left would rip us apart from the inside.

(5,756 posts)Chooses to drop out. By that I mean significant time and resources will have to be spent reassuring the public that President Biden is fit for the job for another four years. That is time and resources that will not be used bashing President Trump, unfortunately.

(6,427 posts)When you're given a 'yes' or 'no' question, you need to give a definitive answer. Anything less than a definitive 'yes' in this case sounds like hemming and hawing. Or a 'no' in other words. Are she and the others with similar responses waiting to see how the presser tomorrow goes before they can give their full-throated endorsement?
Better they stay out of sight until they can make up their minds because they're not helping Joe's cause right now.

(44 posts)I'm not 100% sure that is what is going on.......but Pelosi ....her subtle non explicit support was a message ....to me at least
I think Biden is our only chance ......I think the polls suck........I don't believe them.......or rather .....should say so many of them are
wrong so I don't readily always accept what they say
If Pelosi and Schumer and the others are asking Biden to step aside, they are giving all the voters and the african american community a big FU .....and telling all of
us we are IRRELEVANT ! that they know better and will decide
how is that any better than Dictator trump not stepping down and deciding our president (him of course)
I think Pelosi and Schumer can't read the room....and maybe they are the ones past their expiration dates.........
that being said....maybe I'm wrong in reading her behavior on Morning Joe....but I got a really bad feeling watching
the exchange..it seemed a grim exchange....again to me.....maybe others did not read it that way
I just reflect back on Clinton ...and how she lost and how the media and polls back then were wrong......
I guess if you say boo to the democrats.....they jump off a cliff .......

(26,361 posts)In my mind it is to keep Tr**p and the Repugs out of the WH.
Let's use James Carville for this one. He's a staunch supporter of Biden to step down.
What if Joe digs in and stays in the race?
Is Carville not going to vote for Joe? Is Carville going to change his vote to Tr**p?
I think not. Remember - the mission is to keep Tr**p and the Repugs out of the WH.
So Carville will vote for Joe. He'll vote for Joe's replacement should Joe drop out on his own. He'll vote for any Dem that is on the ticket - cause that's what our mission (his mission) is.
Dems will not be changing their votes to Tr**p. They will not sit out this election.
This is a Dem vs Repug thing. Dems need to complete their mission.
There might be some - back and forth - going on within the Party now. But in the end - a Dem is a Dem - they will vote for whomever is the person at the top of the ticket. That is the mission.

(10,899 posts)... Biden has clearly decided the age-related issue is over, he's fine, and there is no chance he will exit the Presidential race. Pelosi appears to be saying it's up to Joe, and she will support whatever he decides.
... the problem is: although he's already decided, many people don't seem to have moved on. Pelosi seems to be stuck one step behind. Why? I see no evidence Pelosi has any age-related cognition problems.
... Pelosi may be asking Biden to reconsider. She's always impressed me as very knowledgeable. Maybe she knows more than the average American, or Washington reporter?
